Sagittarian Expedition

Sagittarian Expedition - Exploring Ourselves

"We shall not cease from exploration and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started... and know the place for the first time."

—T.S. Eliot

We may struggle all week with a determined tendency to isolate, 'keep our own counsel', or 'go it alone' in this week's Sagittarian expedition. The Sagittarius urge to explore is front and center this week but we have to make a conscious choice about whether to ask others for help and guidance. What can hopefully 'Win The Day' is our embrace of any opportunity to learn and grow through the challenges that life throws at us. As Mercury moves in reverse we are encouraged to reexamine some of our most cherished, long-standing beliefs and assumptions. The process will be much more comfortable if we are able to talk things over with others and share any new discoveries. As we move through the week, the desire to explore seems to take the lead. Nonetheless, the gambler in the Sagittarius nature may encourage some defiantly outrageous speculative risks — particularly if we insist on staying isolated and on our own. Mercury's inferior conjunction with the Sun on Tuesday is an important shift, which leads us into Friday's Mercury-Venus conjunction that encourages us to really embrace the excitement and advantages of an exploratory approach. By the end of the week, we begin to glimpse that there is a fresh start on the horizon, as we approach next Sunday's New Moon (10:30 PM PST 26° Sagittarius) on the galactic center.

We begin the week dealing with a great deal of indecision and the potential for failing confidence levels on Sunday. The tendency towards isolation is significant. Monday's unexpected developments and nervous energy does little to ease the tendency towards indecisiveness. However, by the time we get to Tuesday's inferior conjunction of the Sun and Mercury, we find that our thinking has shifted and we can begin to embrace a bit more of the Sagittarius courage in this Sagittarian expedition of discovery. Our courage intensifies on Wednesday but we may be tempted to make risky, speculative gambles that could quickly get us in over our heads. The chips are down on Thursday and we may feel the need to return to a more isolating independence, rather than reaching out for help and guidance. However, by Friday, under the Mercury-Venus conjunction, optimism and openness becomes more appealing and we begin to sense that a fresh start is just over the horizon. There's a bit of a teeter-totter effect on our mood on Saturday. Over-optimism could set us up for significant disappointment. We should not forget that big dreams require hard work and the Sun's entrance into Capricorn next week will remind us of that.
