Full Moon Chaos

Full Moon Chaos - Overwhelming Uncertainty

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."

—Psalms 23:4

Mercury turns retrograde in Sagittarius this week, wrapped up in several important dialogs — a trine to Uranus, a sextile to Mars, and a conjunction with Saturn. Mercury becomes a focal point for the expressions of these larger planets, driving us on a journey through a review of many of our underlying assumptions. The action of Mercury is mainly to gather and disseminate information — not draw a bunch of Sagittarian conclusions. However, with the input of these other influences, Mercury takes us on a guided journey through our underlying assumptions to observe how they may be undercutting our overall foundation. Uranus' action heightens our mental activity and intellect and Mars keeps our energy stirred but the conjunction to Saturn determines our focus under this retrograde period. It's easy to feel quite overwhelmed, especially under Sunday's Full Moon chaos (7:46 AM PST 11° Gemini/Sagittarius). Information and assumptions are all mixed up by the Sun and Moon's square to Neptune, creating a swirl of foggy clues jumbled up with uncertainty and pessimism. The involvement of Mars suggests that we may want to forge ahead through the fog. However, as Mercury turns retrograde, we reach a stopping point where we must now turn around and retrace our steps just far enough for us to get a better understanding of the basic assumptions that have taken us to this point. We'll need to find the willingness to make an honest assessment and make the necessary adjustments in order to prepare for Saturn's move into Capricorn — just before Mercury turns direct on December 21st. Mercury returns to a conjunction with Saturn — this time in Capricorn — on January 12th, when the lessons of this month's journey will be tested.

Sunday's Full Moon produces a significant amount of confusing chaos. Mental strain is a significant danger. Monday's Cancer Moon increases emotional insecurity but Mercury's sextile to Mars offers important opportunities to begin the process of reviewing our assumptions. We may feel that our ego is on the line on Tuesday and there is a tendency to take any slowdowns personally. We get a boost of energy on Wednesday with the feeling that we can make a fresh start on a more stable footing. Activity begins to heat up on Thursday, leading to some potential for defensiveness. However, the inventive and innovative atmosphere offers significant potential for progress if we can stay focused on teamwork, instead of who's going to get the credit. The potential for over activity is strong on Friday. We need to guard against demanding too much from others but rather, offer appreciation and gratitude. Mars arrives in Scorpio on Saturday, submerging much of the week's activity into a steamy undercurrent of determination. The Scorpio persistence arrives just in the nick of time, as we face the dawning recognition that our work has just begun and it may be much harder than we had thought.
