Weekly Horoscope: January 15 - 21

Retrograde Shadow - Uncertainty

This is a particularly challenging week. We face a great deal of uncertainty and/or lack of clarity within an environment that often seems to demand some kind of bold, expansive action. However, rather than focusing on the 'Big Picture', we'll be better off to stay focused on what is directly in front of us and look for ways to use the intensified energy levels in a controlled and tightly focused manner. Restriction, insecurity and distrust feeds the general uncertainty and is likely to hinder any lasting progress. We need to look for ways to build bridges — one brick at a time, if necessary. Control becomes significantly more difficult once the Sun arrives in Aquarius on Thursday. There is a feeling of excitement that promotes a materialistic adventurousness and a brief glimmer of cooperation. However, nagging distrust and waning confidence stays with us until just before the week ends. Caution seems to drive our intentions undercover and perhaps lead us towards a complete re-examination by the time we reach the next New Moon (January 27th 4:06 PM PST 8° Aquarius). We stay in the retrograde shadow of Mercury until that New Moon and the self-examination and refinement process continues.

Sunday's 'urge to merge' creates an overwhelmingly insecure desire to please others or gain favor by telling others what we think they want to hear. Mars conjuncts Chiron in Pisces on Monday, creating a restless push to take action but offering little support to clearly communicate what we want. Clear, accurate information slows to an excruciating drip, continuing to hold us back from making the kind of headway we would like. The restrictive environment continues through Wednesday and is intensified by an increasing sense of mistrust. The Sun arrives in Aquarius on Thursday, changing the playing field entirely. There is a brief surge of cooperative spirit and a strong desire for excitement. However, by Friday, self-confidence decays into irresponsible self-reliance, leaving little room for alternative opinions. A more reliable sense of commitment and self-confidence arrives on Saturday but we continue to be hampered by a lack of trust in others.
