Mercury Turns Direct - Securing Information

"Things happen to you out of luck, and if you get to stick around it's because you're talented."

—Whoopi Goldberg

Mercury turns direct at the beginning of this week in an atmosphere of high energy and high optimism. At times, it may feel as the a bounty of good fortune has begun to fall from the heavens. However, the high energy and restlessness keeps us stirred up and likely, quite impatient despite any good fortune. The flow of information seems to turn around and the confusion we have been facing for much of the year seems to be clearing. There are several moments, though, where clarity is a two-edged sword — when the fog clears, we see the reality is much more challenging than we may have ever thought. Even facing such glimpses of reality, the optimism seems to build expectations without tangible evidence or conclusions. There are important lessons to be learned here and powerful wisdom to be gleaned, but we need to find some way to filter out the distractions and avoid being lulled into self-indulgent nihilism. When we recognize our mistakes or missteps — or those of others — we'll do better to recognize that we have learned important lessons and simply move on. The importance of appreciation and recognition can not be underestimated here. The level of impatience in this atmosphere is more likely to stir blame and recrimination, instead of a philosophical recognition that we learn more from our mistakes than from our successes. If we find that we have chosen the wrong road in haste, we should not simply try to make corrections with just as much haste. Next week's Cancer New Moon (July 20th 10:32 AM PDT 28° Cancer) opposes Saturn and will likely bring any expectations back down to earth with a thud. Responsibility, humility and especially gratitude for the efforts of others, no matter how imperfect those efforts may seem, will go far to keep us stabilized and focused heading into next week's Cancer New Moon.

Mercury turns direct on Sunday. The Aries Moon keeps us energized and highly optimistic. However, as the day wears on, we may find a few challenges and power struggles to deal with. Monday's Taurus Moon helps to settle us down a bit. Patience and understanding will help us get over the recognition that we have made some mistakes that need to be corrected. Our awareness of past mistakes takes even more of our focus on Tuesday and the tendency to place blame seems hard to resist. The glimpse of reality we get may produce a shock — or two. Wednesday offers a free-flowing bounty of luck and high optimism. We'll do better to approach these blessing with humility, rather than self-congratulations and boasting. Restlessness and excitement are stirred on Thursday by the Gemini Moon, in mutual reception with the 'accelerating' Mercury in Cancer. Some may feel exhilarated while others may feel only distraction. The spin of information continues on Friday but we should be careful not to allow our expectations to get too inflated. By Saturday, we begin to sense the coming Cancer New Moon and the real potential for destabilizing challenges and increased demand for responsible action.
