Mercury Stations Direct - Creative New Ideas

"Nobody sees a flower really; it is so small. We haven't time, and to see takes time - like to have a friend takes time."

— Georgia O'Keeffe

This week begins with an extraordinary amount of optimism. There may be some sense that we are 'writing a new chapter' in our lives, in our society, in our world. However, while we may feel as though we are 'ready to roll', Mercury is still retrograde, and it is unlikely that we have enough of the necessary framework and structure in place to move forward with any degree of stability. If we try to move forward without establishing a stable 'footing', we are likely to find ourselves overwhelmed by daunting challenges that will not yield to 'brute force' solutions but must be informed by more subtle insights and steady efforts to find common ground. Determination and independent actions alone will not be enough to move forward effectively. We reach the first, exact, Saturn-Uranus square on Wednesday. While old structures may very well seem to be crumbling, anything 'new' (Uranus) is subject to continuing challenges (Saturn). Our motives and intentions must be impeccable or we will find ourselves back at the drawing board. Instead of pushing too hard to move forward, we need to take the time to organize our ideas and insights and check in with friends and allies who can help us to maintain a detached, objective perspective. It is important to stay open to new ideas, new approaches, and new insights despite the building impatience. Mars is a approaching a trine to Pluto, which will complete next week. The rising sense of imperative to achieve some kind of 'Total Transformation', will push us hard. But our approach must be tempered with the recognition that every 'new element' that we try to put into place will be filtered through the overriding challenges of the Saturn-Uranus square. Each 'new element' must be thoroughly examined and tested — challenged through the filter of our past experiences — before it is allowed to become a part of a new framework. The Sun's arrival in Pisces on Thursday offers some hope of increased compassion. Faith begins to seep into our awareness in ways that help us merge the varying 'bits' of insight, ideas, and innovations together into something more usable. By Saturday, when Mercury stations direct, we are likely to feel a renewed push to move ahead — especially as Mars moves closer to the trine to Pluto. However, there are unlikely to be any sudden shifts or any quick progress for some time. Every incremental change must be firmly grounded and broadly understood before it becomes part of a new framework.

The Aries Moon on Sunday is fed by the optimistic atmosphere coming through the Mercury-Jupiter conjunction. Independent action is inspired but there is unlikely to be enough underlying planning or structure to support lasting efforts. Opportunities abound on Monday in an atmosphere that offers a bit more structure and substance to support our efforts. We hit some challenging obstacles and emotional blind spots on Tuesday. We need to find some detachment in order to avoid drowning in vague fears and insecurities. The Taurus Moon on Wednesday punctuates the first Saturn-Uranus square. Impatience stays just below the surface. Exciting, innovative developments may be just around the corner but must be carefully guided and extensively tested before they can be successfully rolled out. The Sun arrives in Pisces on Thursday, bringing elements of faith and compassion. Friday's Gemini Moon, trining the Aquarius stellium, offers renewed enthusiasm but we should remember that 'talk is cheap' and the flow of ideas will need to be carefully checked and tested. Mercury turns direct on Saturday, turning the tables on our ability to roll out our ideas and insights. However, we must still take time to firmly ground our ideas within some kind of established framework.
