Mercury Retrograde 2016: A Grand Reorganization
As we wade further into this new year, Mercury's station on the cusp between Capricorn and Aquarius intensifies the feeling that we are transitioning to something new and exciting. However, since there are still significant elements of an old framework in place, we need to work within the established order as we make plans for this grand renovation. Mars arrives in Scorpio on Sunday morning as this week begins, intensifying just about everything — particularly our determination — especially when the Moon joins Mars around noon on Sunday. We are likely to feel our gears grinding as we try to adapt to the intensity. We would probably like to find someplace where we can break new ground but we'll need to be careful that we don't break a lot of other things in the process! The intensity carries through into Monday but it is almost impossible to focus on just one thing, which makes just about everything unclear. Mercury turns retrograde on Tuesday and, even though we may believe that there is something wonderful just around the corner, we can't quite reach it yet. We'll need to do spend some time taking inventory of what we already have before we get to see what's just around that corner. The theme of intensity continues on Wednesday as the Sun conjuncts Pluto. It may sometimes seem that the best thing to do is just tear everything down and start over but we need to acknowledge that there is some value in at least a few elements of the old, established order. Jupiter turns retrograde on Thursday, further reducing the potential for breaking new ground but offering more space for spiritual exploration. This week's intensity is further tempered by the Moon's arrival in Capricorn on Friday, helping us return to a bit more of last week's practicality. We also begin to recognize the need to build strong alliances. The New Moon (19° Capricorn 5:30 PM PST) late Saturday afternoon will help us to focus all of this week's intensity and determination into a workable strategy for achieving our long term goals and, maybe, those 'New Year's Resolutions'.
