Mercury-Pluto Conjunction

Mercury-Pluto Conjunction - Fixity of Purpose

"Have patience with everything that remains unsolved in your heart.
…live in the question."

— Rainer Maria Rilke,
Letters to a Young Poet

Our responses to uncertainty and constant change will define how well we emerge from the gauntlet of this week's challenges and uncertainty. At times, we may respond by seeking some kind of isolation or safe sanctuary in order to feel safe. However, there is a strong streak of adventurousness and ambition that keeps drawing us out to face the challenges with determination and a sense of destiny. Mercury slowly works towards another conjunction with Pluto this week, completing on Friday, as it moves toward emerging from the shadow of the latest retrograde motion. In this week's environment, the Mercury-Pluto conjunction produces a raw determination and fixity of purpose that drives us forward towards that destiny — we have a mission. Nonetheless, adaptability in the face of constant change is a crucial element that we need this week in order to maintain balance and make real progress. The week begins under a Mars-Chiron square, which is essentially a reminder that there is actually no such thing as a "New Normal". We need awareness and flexibility combined with determination and perseverance in order to stay on top of this environment of constant change. Believing that we can somehow find a comfortable new 'rut' that we can ride in is an illusion that will only set us up for more disruption. This week teaches us lessons about maintaining awareness and 'staying with the process'. The current lunar cycle, initiated by last Monday's Aquarius New Moon (9:45 PM PST 12° Aquarius), has encouraged us to explore avenues for cooperation collaborative group effort. When we choose the seeming safety of isolation, in the face of uncertainty, we lose the advantages of building alliances and working in concert with others. This ambition and adventurousness in this week's environment seems to encourage us to abandon the safety of isolation and 'rise to the challenges', deal with the surprises and uncertainty and, ultimately, build a broader understanding of how important it is to expand our circle of connectedness.

There is an urge to move too quickly on Sunday and we may choose the wrong path in haste. We may have difficulty maintaining focus and balance. Monday's spontaneous atmosphere encourages adaptability. We need to be prepared to make course corrections and quickly adapt to constantly changing circumstances. Spontaneity leads to insights that produce important breakthroughs on Tuesday. Leadership abilities are enhanced. Wednesday's Gemini Moon produces a free-wheeling, free thinking atmosphere. We need to maintain self-control and responsibility in order to actually make tangible progress. Thursday's adventurous quality has us ready to spread our wings. Uncertainty feels like a challenge to be overcome, rather than a cause for concern. Friday's Mercury-Pluto conjunction helps us to expand our awareness in order to see how to more clearly communicate the importance of our mission. Saturday's environment is active and optimistic. Our broadening awareness give us more capacity to reach out to others.
