Aquarius New Moon

Aquarius New Moon - Humanitarian Responsibility

"…everything has a past. Everything — a person, an object, a word, everything. If you don't know the past, you can't understand the present and plan properly for the future."

— Chaim Potok, Davita's Harp

We can begin to see significant turnarounds this week. Monday's Aquarius New Moon (9:45 PM PST 12° Aquarius), followed by Mercury's direct station on Thursday, both point to a new dispensation — a new way forward. The Aquarius New Moon directs our attention to 'humanitarian responsibility' and the importance of collaborative, 'group' efforts. We can begin to contemplate the possibility of developing a sense of responsibility that is broad enough to recognize that we are, in fact, 'our brother's keeper'. Mercury's direct station is closely aligned with Pluto, providing extensive intellectual support for clear and powerful communication that helps us to enlist the support of others and build strong cooperative alliances. At the beginning of this week, Mercury is the only planet still retrograde. With Mercury direct, our thinking can begin to catch up with our situations and circumstances. As well, Mars is now well established in Capricorn which helps direct our energy productively towards planning for the future. What is crucial this week is to consider what we have learned from the past when planning for the future. The restructuring that is underway is significant and unmistakable. Old structures are shifting or collapsing but we have not been able to gain enough traction to begin to rebuild and restructure for the future. While there are still significant restrictions and obstacles to contend with, we begin to move through the confusion this week and find the raw materials we need to effectively plan a new way forward. Those elements of the past that we have found to still have some relevance can begin to be folded into our plans for the future. Nonetheless, this is a complex equation and not simple to solve which is why we need to be sure that we continue to gather further input and build strong alliances involving those whose perspectives are different than our own. As we move through the waxing phase of this lunar cycle, we will learn important lessons about how to recognize the value and importance of differing opinions and perspectives. We need to allow others the freedom that we are demanding and use caution and patience when we find restrictions or obstacles that seem to us to be unnecessary, arbitrary — or even stupid. This week's environment gives us powerful tools for recognizing and planning for future changes and developments by understanding what we are growing out of and what we are growing toward.

There is some tendency to push too hard on Sunday. We may be inclined to get a bit too 'clever' by trying to speed up the process. Monday's Aquarius New Moon reinforces our awareness of the need to build cooperative alliances. There are increased feelings of restrictions and responsibility that may initially seem very complicated. We struggle to get any traction on Tuesday under the VOC Moon. It is important to stay flexible. We look to 'expanding our horizons' on Wednesday. We should carefully assess the levels of support we can identify from those around us. Mercury turns direct on Thursday, increasing pragmatism. It is increasingly clear that we need to work on building clear consensus. Activity is increased on Friday. Innovative initiatives are surprisingly well-formed due to past effort and planning. We may begin to feel a 'sense of destiny' on Saturday. The rubber hits the road and we begin to realize that there is no going back.
