Mars Square Neptune

Mars Square Neptune - Foggy Idealism

"And when the fog's over and the stars and the moon come out at night it'll be a beautiful sight."

— Jack Kerouac

This week is made especially challenging by the distinct lack of clear focus. The New Moon on Thursday (1:05 PM PST 27° Aquarius) offers a truly fresh start but, even then, we are likely to struggle getting our footing, our clarity, and a willingness to compromise — especially when our independence is at stake. Venus has moved into Pisces, where she is exalted, which brings a highly creative insight but also a need to balance spiritual and material goals. As well, Mars moves towards a square to Neptune all week (culminating early Saturday morning). Mars square Neptune contributes to the lack of clarity. While inspiration is all around us, we may feel that we are trying to describe something completely indescribable. The lack of specificity is surely to draw questions which, in turn, provokes a great deal of impatience — "Can't you see how great my vision is?!" This week's strains are not without purpose, though, despite the seeming wilderness we are traveling through. The New Moon really does offer a new beginning and encourages more inclusion, broader acceptance, and less self-centered, visionary grandiosity. Once we finally gain clarity on the specifics, we will find more willingness to blend our vision with the ideas of others and compromise won't seem as distasteful as it does this week.

If we can avoid over-idealistic zealotry on Sunday, there are opportunities to display our skill in creative, yet practical ways. Focusing on humility will help to avoid the building potential for significant disappointment. Let the creative process be its own reward. Monday is especially active as we become aware of the need for adjustments. We may be quite likely to take the increasing strain personally. Stay with the process and rest assured that the strain won't last forever. Tuesday's Aquarian Moon helps to instill at least some detachment. The high energy levels may not be easy to manage and could produce more irritation than action — particularly with the lack of focus and clarity. Egos are on the line on Wednesday as we seek to display our independence. Thursday's New Moon helps to clear the slate and offers a fresh start. However, the light from the New Moon is always dim, and a clear, specific goal or purpose continues to be illusive. Defensive impatience surfaces quickly on Friday and we may want to simply acknowledge that there's just too much fog to see where we're going. Take time to reflect and contemplate. There's a let down on Saturday (Mars square Neptune can take the air out of our balloon) but we have turned an important corner and by the end of the day, we begin to better recognize the importance of the new beginning that has been brought forth by the New Moon.
