Mars-Pluto Square - The Struggle For Power

"And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. "

—Luke 12:28-29

The Mars-Pluto square builds all week, keeping our attention intensely focused on imperatives that demand attention, despite the fact that the Moon is waning in light — a time when we usually expect intensity to dissipate. Certainly, there are building power struggles and overt attempts to take or maintain control. However, we should not discount the importance of this week's Venus-Jupiter conjunction, with Venus carrying Jupiter's light into a trine with Neptune. Creative and artistic inspiration can provide us with a transcendent vision that helps us rise above the intensity and mundane struggle for power. Throughout this week, we may have a hard time determining exactly how to share our inspiration, who to share it with — or even what to share. Much of our inspiration may be subject to misunderstanding or, even worse, could be used to provide ammunition in the mundane battle for power and control. By the middle of the week, increasingly insightful mental acuity and heightened perception helps us to begin to make important connections — we can begin to see a bigger picture and make new plans. This week's intensity and pressure may have us walking a fine line between determination and obsession. We should remember that 'Rome wasn't built in a day' and it is important to take breaks or take a step back once in a while in order to see that bigger picture. Also, as we face down any overt struggles to take charge, we may want to consider the value of passive resistance or even determined indecision — that is, taking a 'wait and see' approach. Saturday's New Moon (3:42 AM PST 26° Scorpio) at the end of week is a particularly powerful seed germination event after which, we will begin to see our vision take shape.

Venus conjuncts Jupiter on Sunday, offering a welcome, broadly philosophical overview. We may glimpse a marvelous glimmer of inspiration. The VOC Moon on Monday could divert us down a 'rabbit hole' of trivial issues but by late afternoon, we have the chance to revisit Sunday's intriguing threads of inspiration. Tension begins to rise on Tuesday and the pressure may produce some significant mental strain. Heightened mental insight and improved perceptivity on Wednesday helps to restore some balance. Indecision may actually be quite helpful by keeping us from acting too rashly. We may be subject to some wildly unrealistic idealism on Thursday. On the other hand, by dreaming big dreams, we may achieve big things! Impatience and power struggles heat up on on Friday, especially when we can't see exactly what's going on beneath the surface. There are subtle shifts on Saturday, following the early morning New Moon and the Moon's arrival in Sagittarius. Despite the intense environment, we begin to see our vision taking shape and can begin to contemplate how we may communicate our insights to others.
