Mars in Aries
Mars in Aries - Energetic Independence
"A hundred struggle and drown in the breakers. One discovers the new world. But rather, ten times rather, die in the surf, heralding the way to that new world, than stand idly on the shore."
— Florence Nightingale
The hard work that was demanded from the last New Moon (January 5th, 5:28 PM PST 15° Capricorn) begins to show results this week. Last week's 'sense of destiny' has us laser focused on building new structures and establishing new rules for a New Order. Responsibility and discipline is of paramount importance but there are also demands for freedom and independent thoughts and actions. Confidence ebbs and flows, along with optimism, as we head toward next Sunday's Full Moon (9:15 PM PST 0° Leo/Aquarius). However, the sense of purpose and mission seems to be unwavering. The transit of Mars through Aries began rather quietly (muted by the strong Capricorn influences) which allowed us to bide our time and guard our energy. This week, however, the Mars in Aries energy is unleashed — if not unrestrained — resulting in periods of impatience, alternating with expansive optimism urged on by the culminating trine of Mars in Aries and Venus in Sagittarius. Despite the strong demands for independence, there is a recognition that we need to stay connected with others. There are strong opinions on display, along with obstinate resistance. Interactions are vibrant, exciting, and constructive but also explosive. The Sun approaches a square to Uranus which culminates on Friday, which suggests a wide variety of surprising twists of fate. Friday's events are likely to foreshadow sudden changes that arrive with next Sunday's Full Moon.
Discipline is required on Sunday, in order to make the most of the adventurous and pioneering spirit that is on display. Seeds of enlightenment are beginning to sprout. Monday's Taurus Moon offers steady grounding. Creativity and intuition are strong. We begin to see determination and discipline really paying off. On Tuesday, we see that 'Success Breeds Success'. The only problem is trying to push too hard when we see that our efforts are showing such great results. Resistance surfaces on Wednesday and optimism is deflated. Stubborn obstinance may actually prove to be valid once the dust settles. We find more room for negotiation on Thursday, aided by flexibility and renewed optimism. It is important to honor differing points of view. Activity surges on Friday under the Sun's square to Uranus. It isn't easy to master the crisis-driven atmosphere. We need to employ strategy and wisdom in order to avoid becoming side-tracked. Optimism is dampened, confidence is unsteady, and impatience is high on Saturday, ahead of the Full Moon. The Cancer Moon increases sensitivity but also encourages us to continue to seek answers that will, ultimately enhance our sense of security and safety.
