Aries Full Moon - Charming Assertiveness

"You can use your idealism to further your aims, if you realize that nothing is Nirvana, nothing is perfect."

—Jon Stewart

This week brings us to the hangover phase of last week's idealistic revolutionary fervor where we're forced to sort through the idealism in order to find and salvage the workable details and organize them into a pragmatic set of goals. Thursday's Aries Full Moon (11:02 AM PDT 12° Aries/Libra) is particularly interesting because the rulers of both the Sun (in Libra, ruled by Venus) and the Moon (in Aries, ruled by Mars) are conjunct in the process-driven, detail and service oriented sign of Virgo, right at the time of the Full Moon! The normally flashy independence of Aries and the smooth sociability of Libra are channeled through the shy practicality of Virgo. As we approach the Full Moon, we lose most of last week's idealism. We can't seem to find a direct route to achieve our vision or we feel uncertain. The tendency is to try and work through others and encourage others to be decisive and take direct action. Unfortunately, this isn't likely to produce the desired movement. Relationship challenges arise when we aren't willing to take responsibility for our mistaken approaches or when we try to push someone to do what we can't do for ourselves. When we try to just take over and run things on our own — conflicts and cross purposes block our path. Ultimately, detachment is the key here. Dependency or self-sacrifice won't get us anywhere. As our ideals begin to come back down to earth we'll lose our susceptibility to slick presentation and grand schemes and slowly begin to develop a more pragmatic approach that embraces cooperation but does not abandon our own unique perspective. Jupiter moves into Scorpio next week, which will expand our search for a deeper sense of truth and encourage us to pull away layers of camouflage and distortion that have been hiding the path to that deeper understanding.

We feel rather cautious on Sunday, especially if we sense that our relationships are being threatened. Monday's Pisces Moon keeps us uncertain. We may begin to suspect that we should try to get others to show the direct, decisive determination that we don't feel capable of mustering for ourselves. By Tuesday, criticism may lead us to try to get things moving for ourselves. However, it isn't easy to resolve our uncertainty and get things moving, especially when relationship challenges reveal that we aren't fully respecting the perspective of others. The Moon is VOC on Wednesday morning, keeping us in a dreamy Piscean fog bank. The Moon's arrival in Aries on Wednesday afternoon doesn't really seem to be enough to get us off the fence. Most of our idealism falls apart under Thursday's Aries Full Moon. We are challenged to find and salvage any realistic elements that remain intact. Friday brings a determined but transitory flash of self-indulgent, individual independence, which is quickly deflated when challenged, resulting in defensiveness. The Moon arrives in Taurus on Friday afternoon. By Saturday, a forming Grand Earth trine helps to revive a more pragmatic approach to last week's revolutionary idealism.
