Mercury arrives in Aquarius at the beginning of this week, setting a highly engaging and intellectual 'tone' for this Friday's Aquarius New Moon (2:58 PM PST 20° Aquarius). Adding to our engagement and intellectual excitement, Venus makes a trine to Uranus on Wednesday. Upon arriving in Aquarius, Mercury makes an extremely potent conjunction with Pluto. The initial energy burst on Monday may feel quite overwhelming and cause us to miss the powerful messages and important opportunities that are offered. Feeling overwhelmed may cause some of us to slip into a sort of nihilistic sense of complacency. However, the Mercury-Pluto conjunction will also inject a sense of mission or 'destiny' which can help us to overcome the sense of complacency or nihilism that threatens to keep us from becoming engaged. Although we are in the 'dark of the Moon' period of the lunar cycle, the intellectual insights are flowing, which seems to 'light the way'. However, we will still need to be cautious and avoid taking premature action. Once we reach the Aquarius New Moon on Friday, powerful emotional elements are introduced which aren't easily integrated into the generally detached nature of Aquarius. The New Moon squares Uranus in Taurus and the 'fixed sign' energy suggests a powerful inertia as well as forces which are extremely difficult to overcome and move past. Many of the challenges involve inner, emotional themes of self-sufficiency and emotional dependency. We may find ourselves feeling disillusioned or disappointed by our inability to establish some new sense of order and stability. It is the emotional challenges that can obstruct our ability to make the necessary connections to those around us — our tribe or our community. There has been a great deal of focus on the entrance of Pluto into Aquarius in terms of technological advancement, especially Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing and Web 3.0. However, one of the most basic elements of of the Aquarius/Uranus archetype is electricity. The importance of connection in relation to our modern electrical grid system should not be underestimated in how we understand the message of Pluto's transit through Aquarius. There is also a powerful communication element associated with Aquarius, which is closely associated with the modern wireless connections that we make to each other through mobile devices and satellite communications. This week's Aquarius New Moon, squaring Uranus, along with the potent Mercury-Pluto conjunction on the cusp of Aquarius is bound to highlight our understanding of not just who we connect with but also how we connect. The emotional elements of this week's New Moon may relate to some sudden glimpses of the potential instability of the electrical grid and communications systems upon which we have become almost completely dependent.

A feeling of mission or destiny provides a great deal of inspiration and momentum. Some may be lured off course by tempting 'curiosities' on Thursday. There is also a danger of overreacting to perceived threats. There is a heightened sense of intellectual excitement and engagement on Friday but we may also face a powerful inertia. The later part of the day may bring confusion or misunderstandings. Saturday brings a great deal of powerful emotional challenges. There are themes of self-sufficiency and self-reliance as well as emotional dependency and instability.
