Post Full Moon - Adjustment
"I am not afraid of storms for I am learning how to sail my ship."
—Louisa May Alcott
The challenge of unexpected or sudden change — either devastating or beneficial — may not be fully realized until we reach the adjustment phase when we are forced to adapt or adjust to whatever change or transformation we have passed through. This week is a week of adjustment, following last week's transformational Full Moon (July 8th, 9:06 PM PDT 17° Capricorn/Cancer). The temptation is to look for technical answers or procedures. We'd like to find the right technique that will allow us to efficiently adapt, restore a sense of surety, and simply move on. However, emotions may not yield to such detached analysis. We need to allow the transformational process to continue to unfold as we look for ways to adjust our perspective and rebuild. This is a week to remember that 'time takes time' and that human beings are not machines to be 'fixed'. Rather, we are growing, creative, evolving beings on an unfolding journey of discovery. As is often said, 'change is the only constant'. Yet it seems that we often seek security through the illusion of permanence instead of cultivating adaptability through broadened awareness and the development of new perspectives.
Sunday's broadly unsettled atmosphere may have some of us on edge, as though we are waiting for the 'other shoe' to drop, following the Full Moon. Nonetheless, the whispers from the Moon/Chiron sextile provides some potential for patience and compassion. We are tempted to dissect emotional, mental and spiritual elements on Monday, in an effort to find some simple technique for making whatever adjustments are called for. However, we aren't likely to find any quick, easy resolutions. Tuesday's resolute sense of purpose may only be a cover for uncertainty and fear. Our attempts at a clear, articulate description of a new vision seem inadequate, especially when we get ahead of ourselves and try to 'push the river'. Awareness deepens on Wednesday and we gain more capacity to look at our circumstance holistically. We find the willingness to accept that we don't fully grasp the full scope of of the changes that are underway — or our ability to describe how we need to adjust to them. There is significant vulnerability beneath a rather superficial mask of confidence on Thursday. Detachment is required in order to avoid becoming overly sensitive when we can't clearly articulate our 'plan'. Friday brings a turn towards idealism and less concern over details. By Saturday, we begin to recognize the new opportunities that have been revealed by the transformational process. Rather than focusing on what has changed or been lost, we finally begin to see the possibilities for a new approach. The prospect of making adjustments becomes more interesting and seems less arduous.
