Venus-Uranus Square - Independent Will Power

"Painting is the passage from the chaos of the emotions to the order of the possible."

— Balthus

Venus retrogrades back to square Uranus for the second of three times this week, producing incredibly strong will-power. The waning lunar cycle is still offering potentialities and possibilities for creative self-expression through innovation. There are waves of inspiration and enthusiasm. Nonetheless, obstacles abound, along with significant amounts of confusion and chaos. There are few 'handles' for us to grab onto that would keep us stabilized enough to pursue a steady line of progress. The main challenge is finding objectivity. There are tendencies to 'show off' or make grand displays. Such activities tend to keep us focused on ourselves rather than developing a broader perspective which would help us rise above the chaos. It isn't easy to maintain objectivity. The Venus-Uranus square has us prone to defensiveness and erratic outbursts. We want to maintain the freedom to pursue our individual creative goals and may have a hard time recognizing that we need to allow others the same freedom. The Sun squares both Jupiter and Uranus this week and Mercury trines Jupiter. These aspects boost our enthusiasm and inspiration but the strong Leo influence puts our egos 'on the line'. Any skepticism, challenges, or obstacles have the potential to push us towards defensiveness or even martyrdom. But the same aspects to Jupiter can also help us to find the necessary 'Big Picture' philosophical perspectives that can keep us from pushing too hard. The work on our self-esteem and self-image seems to be producing results. But our improving self-esteem may only encourage us to try to 'take charge' and 'run the show', which only creates more chaos. When we face the challenges and slow-downs, we are actually coming into 'next level' tests of the faith that we have in ourselves. By the end of the week, the Sun reaches a trine to Chiron, offering a watershed of healing empathy. We find profound opportunities to connect with others and honestly share any disappointments or discouragement. We have a better chance of understanding that believing in ourselves is more important than trying to force 'others' to believe in us. Our search from freedom and independence must begin inside ourselves. Once we finally come to believe in ourselves, we don't need to worry about what others think of us.

There is a mood of optimism on Sunday but also the potential for some extraordinary displays of stubbornness. We are looking for ways to 'show off'. We have extra capacity to find a 'Big Picture' perspective on Monday. We are more focused on finding solutions instead of just simply 'showing off'. Energy ramps up on Tuesday but obstacles surface, creating some frustration. Defensiveness or erratic outbursts are possible. There is a great deal of inspiration and optimism in Wednesday's atmosphere. We need to keep focused on finding clarity and not push too hard. Thursday's enthusiasm seems to create significant chaos. A feeling of helplessness undercuts our self-esteem. We struggle to find objectivity on Friday and may misunderstand important details. However, our confusion begins to unwind later in the day. A Sun-Chiron trine on Saturday brings a watershed of healing empathy, encouraging connection with others. We have an easier time believing in ourselves.
