Weekly Astrology Forecast: May 22 - May 28
Venus oppose Mars - Tension Between the Past and Future
It's quite a busy week! Venus moves forward into Gemini as Mars retrogrades back into Scorpio. The Venus/Mars opposition that is formed, on the Gemini/Sagittarius cusp, sets up some complex personal relationship challenges where a search for deeper motivations is met with a blithe desire to keep things free and easy. Mercury turns direct this week but there are some lingering tensions — a pull between the past and the future. As well, Jupiter and Saturn make the last of 3 squares that finally begins to draw to a close the exchange that began in August of 2015. Their interaction, from Virgo to Sagittarius, has required continuing readjustment on our personal journey towards building a more reliable framework for believing in ourselves and our ideas. This week's shifts are all leading to next month's Full Mutable Crosses — a time that has been termed the "Great Fracturing" — when chaos leads to significant reorganization. The biggest personal challenge during this period may well be the strong temptation to blame others for blocking our path, encouraged by the retrograde Mars in Scorpio, which could tempt us to hold grudges instead of transforming our goals. Mercury is stationary at the beginning of this week and the pull between the past and the future is intense but there is a void created that permits an amazing swirl of ideas and potential. Monday brings strong feelings of freedom and invincibility following Sunday's intoxicating swirl of ideas. However, we seem to only meet with delay since the VOC Moon requires that we let Sunday's ideas percolate. We'll need to settle down and sort out the details before we can actually implement anything. The Venus/Mars opposition on Tuesday, following Venus' arrival in Gemini, sets up the relationship tensions that continue through the rest of the week and beyond. We need to stay open to the input of others while working on being precise and clear when we articulate our own position. The culmination of the Jupiter/Saturn square on Wednesday and Thursday elicits a strong focus on material gain that needs to be tempered with enough spiritual insight to resist the urge to focus solely on transitory personal gain (greed). Mars moves back into Scorpio on Friday, leading to a search for deeper motivations in ourselves and others. The passion levels increase dramatically but are frustrated by an atmosphere of superficial pleasantry. Saturday brings increasing impatience but also a powerful creative passion that offers artistic breakthroughs. The passionate atmosphere could easily lead to suspicious delusions if we aren't able find productive outlets for the potent creative energies.
