Taurus Quincunx Sagittarius - Accumulation vs. Circulation
(or — We're all in this together!)

The process of rebuilding and strengthening a support network becomes less theoretical and more tangible this week when we sense challenges to our personal, material resources. This week, the retrograde Mercury stations in Taurus, quincunxing Saturn in Sagittarius, creating a blind corner that makes resources seem particularly scarce. The Taurus instinct to accumulate wealth is threatened by the Sagittarius desire to circulate wealth. The illusion of scarcity can be used as a manipulative tool to keep us separated and at odds with each other as we fight for what seems to be a limited supply of resources. Mercury slows down all week, and turns direct just as we reach Full Moon (2:14 PM PDT 1° Sagittarius/Gemini) on Saturday. Thought processes are questionable and communication is difficult. Our focus seems to be unavoidably drawn to apparent ignorance in others, particularly when we feel that our security is threatened. However, some may respond by turning inward, instead of making important connections to others. When we feel ourselves struggling against what seems like ignorance, it is easy to resort to an isolating feeling of superiority. Opinions may seem to be particularly intransigent and listening becomes difficult — it seems easier to just walk away. The challenge is to recognize that we are 'all in this together' instead of focusing on what seem to be stubborn differences. The key is to maintain some sense of detachment and avoid making worthless sacrifices just to keep the peace or restore some temporary sense of security. Stubbornness is particularly difficult on Sunday, making anything but light, superficial conversations problematic. There are subtle clues on Monday that detachment is needed in order to avoid becoming stuck taking sides or trying to hold on to an untenable position. The need for detachment becomes more important on Tuesday when the crisis-driven atmosphere seems to suggest that sacrifices are inevitable. The Moon is VOC all day Wednesday and questions of fairness seem to leave little room for creative solutions. Thursday offers the best opportunity all week for open-minded, honest communication. Stubbornness subsides temporarily and there is extra patience available for individuals to more deeply examine the details. The Sun arrives in Gemini on Friday and the burst of mental activity suggests more talking than listening. Saturday's Full Moon, conjunct Mars produces a significant amount of stress and uncertainty. We'll need to actively establish direct, honest, responsible communication in order to avoid sacrificing our personal integrity for temporary security. We may also be tempted to rely on questionable 'expert' advice when we don't feel capable of making our own choices. However, we should remember that, over the next three weeks, we'll have the opportunity to discover new information. We are wise to resist this week's pressure to form premature conclusions.
