Taurus Full Moon - Turning Inward

"Change what cannot be accepted and accept what cannot be changed."

— Reinhold Niebuhr

Mercury and the Sun both arrive in Scorpio this week, leaving behind the power struggles of the Pluto squares to form stabilizing trines to Saturn. Our thinking shifts inward. A determined search for 'truth' and deeper meaning is initiated. Responsibility and self-discipline are required. By the end of the week, Mercury conjuncts Mars in opposition to Jupiter in Taurus just as we reach Saturday's Taurus Full Moon (1:23 PM PDT 5° Taurus/Scorpio). The culmination of this lunar cycle demands that we narrow our focus and pare away the myriad of opinions and options that have been offered. The Mars-Mercury conjunction can sometimes suggest sharp, 'shoot from hip' rhetoric but in Scorpio, we are more circumspect. The oppositions to Jupiter can produce impatience but also expanded awareness. Leading up to the Full Moon, we are likely to see some independent, erratic, opinionated, even self-righteous displays. Building impatience simmers beneath the surface. But 'grand demonstrations' and outbursts are unlikely as we continue to individually seek better understanding. This week's journey inward does bring insights and revelations but lead to uncomfortable new perspectives. Stubborn independence pushes back against conformity and we need to understand for ourselves. As we begin to gain broader perspectives, we may try to offer compassion and empathy — but what we are finding is likely to be quite painful. There are no easy, 'one size fits all' solutions. Over the course of the week, we are challenged to find 'Strength Through Weakness'. We must face our individual powerlessness while continuing to seek "The wisdom to change the things I can". Creativity is heightened and there is significant potential for surprising innovation through powerful individual action. But the 'light' of the Full Moon does not really produce 'waves of insights' pulsing through the atmosphere. Rather, we are more likely to see individual 'lights' turning on in a variety of different individuals. However, the caution and lack of trust in this atmosphere keeps us from sharing our insights by 'shouting from the rooftops'. While individual 'lights' may eventually grow brighter, offering a way to broader cooperation, we aren't likely to see that develop as the current lunar cycle completes.

There are important opportunities for productive communication breakthroughs on Sunday. But much of the communication is 'behind the scenes'. Stubborn, independent opinions are expressed quite forcefully on Monday, which may simply be 'blowing off some steam'. We are likely to see a softening of tone as the week progresses. Compassion is enhanced on Tuesday. However, impatience may lead to the temptation to try to take 'short cuts' which are reckless and hasty. Impatience builds on Wednesday. The insights and revelations that we find may be quite painful. We are determined to 'forge ahead' on Thursday but we may not have as much information as we really need. We struggle to trust others with our new insights and perspectives. We find heightened creativity on Friday. Some individual actions may produce surprising, far-reaching developments. Our focus is taken further inward under Saturday's Taurus Full Moon. We don't quite have the confidence or energy to broadly share our understanding with others.
