Saturn-Pluto Conjunction

Saturn-Pluto - A New Dispensation

"When your actions are motivated by love, you expend least effort and your energy multiplies, allowing you to create anything you want, with a spirit of play and joy. When you seek power and control over others, you waste energy chasing the illusion of happiness."

— Deepak Chopra

Corrupt, controlling, fear-based manipulation of insecurity begins to face powerful, inescapable challenges initiated under this week's Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn. The wisdom of Capricorn is hidden within the spiritual seed of Truth that endures through the limitations and harsh demands of the spiritual concept of Winter. Capricorn's concern with recognition, approval, power, and control are, in essence, expressions of a fear based concern over safety and security. But the spiritual lessons of Capricorn teach us to focus on personal integrity, honesty, pragmatism, and conservation of resources. When we operate through fear and insecurity (often associated with negative traits of Saturn, ruling Capricorn) we only seek recognition and approval for accomplishments as dictated by societal expectations. However, when we only seek recognition based on societal dictates, we may find ourselves abandoning our personal power and integrity, losing control of ourselves as we seek power and control over others. When we only seek external recognition and control over others, we may quickly fall prey to the dictates of Authoritarian Powers who establish the rules, demands, and limitations that we accept — often without question. We lose any ability to maintain sovereign control of ourselves and our connection to Universal Divine Power and Truth. The last time that Saturn and Pluto were conjunct in Capricorn, was all the way back in 1518. Perhaps most notable was that the conjunction occurred less than two months after Martin Luther posted his 'Ninety-five Theses', the beginning of the Reformation of Christianity. His purpose was to challenge the corrupt practice of selling indulgences by the Catholic Church, suggesting that "forgiveness was God's alone to grant". In our current era, we face a myriad of ways in which our personal fears and insecurities are manipulated and controlled by powerful governmental, societal, and corporate interests. This week's conjunction marks the end of the beginning of the process that will put extreme pressure on corrupt authoritarian structures in preparation for the illuminating, liberating transits of Jupiter (12/19/2020), Saturn (3/21/2020) and finally Pluto (3/23/2023) through Aquarius.

Sunday's Leo Moon quincunxes the Capricorn stellium, creating an extraordinary craving for recognition and approval. We may be vulnerable to flattery or misplaced sympathies. Venus arrives in Pisces on Monday, opening us up to deeper connections and increased compassion for ourselves and others. Idealism shifts the tone significantly on Tuesday. The struggle for power and control becomes more unpredictable. The principle of conservation is the focus on Wednesday. Diplomacy is used to increase security and offers some potential for reasoned cooperation. Mercury arrives in Aquarius on Thursday bringing forward exciting ideas which help to break through the overriding concerns around recognition, approval, and security. We are likely to pull back on Friday, looking for some way to regroup and restructure our base of power and control. Saturday offers important lessons in establishing a personal sense of integrity and self-control, rather than simply adhering to external authority.
