Planets & Asteroids: Relationships in Conjunction

Planets & AsteroidsI'm happy to report that Planets & Asteroids: Relationships in Conjunction (Revised Edition), by Esther V. Leinbach, is now available in Paperback and also on kindle.  This book was originally published by Vulcan Books in 1974 (and reprinted in 1976). I've edited this edition prior to it's re-release through CreateSpace and Amazon.

I can't believe that I've been using this book for more than 40 years!  Mom began writing this book just after I first learned to set up a horoscope and I've continued to refer to it ever since. Whether I am looking at a single chart or the relationship between two charts, I've found this book to be an invaluable tool to begin my investigation.

For a limited time, all of Esther V. Leinbach's books are enrolled in Kindle's MatchBook program, which means that if you purchase a paperback copy, you can buy the kindle version for $.99 (or less!).

The books are also currently available to borrow free of charge through Amazon Prime's Lending Program.

What most intrigued me when I first started using this book was the remarkable descriptions of the interaction of the planets in relationships between two charts. Understanding how Astrology works in relationships can be an incredibly complex process but using this book to look at the key contacts has always helped me to open the door to understanding the dynamics at work in personal relationships.

This book was one of the very first astrology books available with interpretations for the 4 major asteroids, Ceres, Pallas, Juno & Vesta. This new revised edition also incorporates previously unpublished information about Chiron conjunctions.  However, this book doesn't just focus on Chiron and the Asteroids. The strongest expression of any two planets occurs when they are conjunct and this book describes those conjunctions.  Understanding the interaction of the planets in conjunction can also help to understand of the interaction of two planets in terms of whatever other aspect (such as the trine or square) we might run into.

From the Introduction:

"It has been my experience that conjunctions in a chart strongly characterize an individual, intensifying the influence of the two planets involved. I have also found that conjunctions between charts are the most significant factor in understanding the way two people will relate to each other. If there are no conjunctions between the two charts there usually seems to be insufficient magnetism to hold the relationship together. There were cases, before I started using the Asteroids, where I found no further exceptions. I have never found other aspects between two charts sufficiently strong to provide for the development of relationships. While aspects certainly add color to what the conjunctions between two charts establish, in my experience, aspects alone will not establish a relationship independent of at least one conjunction.

I have found the use of the Asteroids an enormous source of new information. I hope that they will be widely used. However, I consider this work primarily the influence of the planets and is valid whether you have been introduced to the Asteroids or not. If you have not been introduced to them, I hope this book may serve as an introduction to stimulate your curiosity and encourage you to begin using them. I am hopeful that this book will be helpful in throwing more light on the use of the influence of the planets in all relationships in any chart."
