Mars Retrogrades

Mars Retrogrades - Stop Fighting It!

"You see, ya can't please everyone, so ya got to please yourself"

We turn a remarkable corner this week and — if we pay attention — we can suddenly begin to see an entirely new way forward. As Mars retrogrades, Mercury's retrograde motion in Leo is leading us on an extended review of what we've claimed to know and who we've claimed to be. Last week's nonsensical attempts at ego defense may have taken quite a serious toll. However, this week, we may suddenly realize that the audience we've been playing to isn't as important as the audience we see when we look in the mirror. Rather than seeking to gratify our egos with the approval of others, we can see that by truly being ourselves we will begin to attract an entirely new audience — one that can appreciate us for who we truly are. The obstacles we face this week are geared to 'Test Your Mettle' — the courage of newfound convictions — and the challenge is to remain true to our integrity and inner sense of direction, rather than seeking to please others or keep the peace which, this week, may be an impossible task anyway! Frustration and impatience continues to be dominant in this atmosphere as Mars retrogrades back to once again square Uranus. Nonetheless, we find opportunities for remarkable breakthroughs when we begin to honestly acknowledge what has been holding us back and stifling our inner sense of direction. We finally seem to find the courage to cut loose the baggage, dross, and dead weight that is keeping us from moving forward. That is not to say that we can immediately begin to make progress. (We need to keep our expectations is check — Mercury is retrograde, after all.) In essence, this week is about recognizing new approaches and identifying exactly who or what is stopping us from adopting those new approaches. From there, we can begin to responsibly develop plans for future progress.

Indecision seems to stall any progress for much of the day on Sunday. However, the evening offers some promise of productive conversation. Protective skepticism surfaces on Monday. Nonetheless, even though thorough consideration is demanded, there are welcome new ideas and approaches beginning to surface. We seem to be ready to cut our losses on Tuesday or otherwise, drop any unworkable dead weight. True sacrifice in the service of a greater good can produce valuable new opportunities. We feel increased freedom on Wednesday and the sense that we can make a fresh start. We are increasingly encouraged to be bold. Thursday brings candid observations and welcome new friendships and support. The early part of the day on Friday may bring some rather glib pronouncements. However, the afternoon brings a powerful sense of responsibility. The obstacles we face will test our resolve. Ground-breaking accomplishments are possible on Saturday, especially in terms of removing troublesome obstacles to future progress.
