Libra New Moon - Correcting Imbalances

"My existence is caught up and inextricably bound up with yours . . . A solitary human being is a contradiction in terms."

— Desmond Tutu

As we continue the review process of the retrograde Mercury in Libra — the sign of balance and justice — we begin to face the contradictions of our independent, individual positions, attitudes, and opinions. Although the course we are on calls for thoughtful consideration in collaboration with helpful allies, Wednesday's Libra New Moon (4:05 AM PDT 13° Libra) seems to encourage impulsiveness, sharp tongues, and independent, self-righteous pronouncements. This Libra New Moon is conjunct Mars and quincunx Uranus. The Libra desire for balance — consideration, compromise and collaboration — is challenged by the independence of Mars and Uranus. Adjustments may be required but not the reckless and impulsive self-righteous assertions that may be stirred. In fact, the Libra New Moon's message is that we must stop pushing and allow the truth to be revealed. The more we feel the need to make pronouncements, the more vulnerable that we become. Pluto stations direct at the New Moon, signalling that the winds of change will soon be at our backs. With Pluto direct, there is hope that the door to transformative renewal and regeneration will begin to open to us. The New Moon will oppose Chiron, which encourages us to display our independent thoughts. However, if we push too hard, we are more likely to step on our message rather than clearly articulate any fresh new perspectives. The solution is found through maintaining balance and self-discipline and avoiding reckless and impulsive pronouncements. Any temptation to go 'out on a limb' with determined independence will likely leave us extremely vulnerable. By Friday, when Venus arrives in Sagittarius, our determined independence is likely to lead to exposure and, if we have actually gone out on a limb, the limb may break. Over-optimism and unrealistic idealism may even leave us without the allies that we thought would support us. The key is balance, which is especially difficult to maintain this week.

Energy swirls on Sunday, sparking engaging conversations. Any criticism will be felt deeply but Big Picture perspectives are more likely than picky recriminations. Uncertainty and confusion may lead us down some rabbit holes on Monday — not a good day to go too far out on any 'limbs'. Tuesday's Libra Moon set's the stage for Wednesday's New Moon. Impulsive or reckless actions will cause especially harsh 'blow back'. The New Moon on Wednesday calls for balance but the atmosphere is unsteady and unpredictable. We need to focus on balance, compromise, and collaboration. There is a strong temptation to take a self-righteous, all-or-nothing approach on Thursday. The Sun's conjunction to Mars signals an intense desire to push our agenda with sheer force of will. Venus arrives in Sagittarius on Friday, which brings a welcome, open feeling. However, revelations may uncover surprising vulnerabilities. Mercury reaches the inferior conjunction with the Sun and also conjuncts Mars. Sharp tongues and intense debate may not clearly display the underlying motivations and agendas that are at work.
