Jupiter Retrograde

Jupiter Retrograde - My Own Thinking

"The trick has been to live in the contradictions while maintaining principles, beliefs, and purpose."

— Eve Ensler
The Vagina Monologues

The bold, pioneering spirit from last week's Aries New Moon are an important part of this week's environment. We are ready to demand as much freedom as necessary to initiate sweeping change — 'Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!". However, there are strong, contradictory cross-winds this week. The Sun-Saturn square demands that we check our plans thoroughly — check our plans and 'stay in line'. The response is likely to be, "The hell, you say!" Mercury and Venus take turns squaring the stationing Jupiter, encouraging vague self-indulgent independence that leaves little room for cooperation and compromise. Despite the fact that we are well-aware that we need others in order to move forward, we seem to keep falling back into a subtle attitude of, "No, thank you. — I'll do it myself". The contradictions in attitudes and approaches are impossible to reconcile. Ultimately, we need to look for ways to separate our emotions from our intellect. Some of our independent determination may arise from some deep-seated pessimism that others are being completely honest. The Jupiter retrograde period, lasting until August 11th, pushes us away from any reliance on external sources that tell us what to believe. We're more inclined to learn what we need to know in order to decide for ourselves. This week's complications and contradictions are likely to produce a low-grade frustration. However, by the end of the week, the Sun squares Pluto ahead of high energy Grand Fire Trine. The passionate beliefs and wild expectations that come to the surface are not at all easy to control or manage.

Sunday provides the most stability and determination that we will find this week. However, we quickly recognize that the sweeping changes we're aiming for will cause discomfort — and so we hesitate. Tuesday's Gemini Moon inspires curiosity but the Sun-Saturn square keeps us bogged down with doubts or obligations. Piscean inspiration may seem more like self-indulgent over-optimism on Tuesday. The challenge is to keep our emotions and intellectual insights separated. Jupiter Retrograde begins on Wednesday. Curiosity and exciting ideas keep us intrigued but do little to point us towards cooperative efforts on Thursday. There is a low-grade frustration in the air. With awareness, we will continue to search ways to build cooperation on Friday. However, it isn't easy to maintain the space in our plans to allow input from others. The Sun-Pluto square early Saturday morning strikes a match of passion that is activated by a forming, energizing Grand Fire Trine that builds throughout the day on Saturday.
