Aries New Moon

Aries New Moon - Unique Individuality

"The things that make me different are the things that make me."

— A. A. Milne

Although the Spring Equinox occurred last week, we are likely to feel the shift into Spring's Aries energy more significantly this week. The imperatives of the high energy Mars-Uranus square is waning along with the discomfort and heavy sense of responsibility. We can once again begin to focus directly on tying up the loose ends of our past and moving decidedly into the future. The arrival of Mercury into Aries on Sunday and the Aries New Moon (11:24 PM PDT 11° Aries) on Thursday provides us with a strong dose of vigor that we can use to face our future directly, with courage and resolve. But we also see the headstrong nature of Aries more clearly this week. The Aries New Moon, conjunct the 'maverick' Chiron, encourages us to stand apart from others and display our unique individuality. We should note, however, that there is also a strong tendency towards erratic or unpredictable actions that may become rather frustrating to others. Once Mercury begins to catch up to the Sun, near the end of the week, intellect helps to tame the 'scary', erratic behavior and determined non-conformity that can be frustrating to those around us. The extra intellectual capacity helps us to organize the swirl of inspired ideas. We have a better chance of developing enough organization to allow for follow-through on the best ideas. Ultimately, we need to watch our frustration levels when we find ourselves dealing with erratic behavior in others or ourselves. Frustration will also surface if we feel too much restriction in any kind of environment that demands conformity. We are far more likely to see rebellion rather than compromise or acquiescence. Strong egos, promoting opportunities for innovation and expansive advancement, need to find ways to balance determination with the importance of allowing others to find their own way. Chiron's involvement with the New Moon promises opportunities for healing the wounds of the past and soothing the rough edges of some of those strong egos. Nonetheless, the need to set our own course is paramount this week. We will see defensiveness or rebelliousness — to the point of destructive irrationality — if we aren't given the space that we need to follow through on our own individual vision.

Intuition is strong on Sunday. Mercury arrives in Aries and lightens the intellectual load. However, the ongoing wave of uncertainty still requires us to continue processing the deeper emotional currents from the past. Venus conjuncts Saturn on Monday and we don't have much traction to make progress, even though we tend to keep our 'nose to the grindstone'. If we have maintained a desire to move forward on Tuesday, we have more traction and can make some significant progress. We will do better when we convey our ideas to others with some humility. The tendency is to feel especially confident on Wednesday but we may do better if we hold off on 'crowing' about it until after we reach the Aries New Moon on Thursday. There is potential for frustration under the Aries New Moon on Thursday. The need to stand out from the crowd may bring discomfort to those around us — which may push us back towards insecurity, frustration, and uncertainty. Intellect helps to tame the non-conformity enough to bring us some organizational capacity on Friday. We feel a bit more emboldened and also more balanced. By Saturday, the atmosphere seem to be ripe for accepting new ideas and innovation. There is a distinctly optimistic mood. However, we will quickly rebel against any sort of restrictions.
