Scorpio New Moon - Determined Compromise

"Every now and then one paints a picture that seems to have opened a door and serves as a stepping stone to other things."

— Pablo Picasso

This week's shifts are noticeable and auspicious. The Sun arrives in Scorpio on Sunday, ahead of Tuesday's Scorpio New Moon (3:48 AM PDT 2° Scorpio) which is in a tight conjunction with Venus. The collaboration and connection building that was encouraged under the last lunar cycle begins to produce welcome dividends this week. As well, Jupiter returns to Pisces on Thursday, where it will turn direct near the end of next month. Although Jupiter's return to Pisces may initially feel somewhat jarring, we will eventually regain some of last Spring's enthusiasm and intuitive optimism. Even though there may be some conflicts between big picture ambitions and contradictory details, the Scorpio New Moon provides plenty of determination and a willingness to compromise in order to pursue our ambitions and broader aspirations. Scorpio's determination gets a boost from Saturn's newly direct motion. However, some of Saturn's influence this week may have us seeking isolation instead of expanded connections. We may also struggle at times to embrace the perspectives that others are offering. Nonetheless, Mercury carries some of the light from last week's Mercury-Saturn trine into a trine to the potent soon-to-be-retrograde Mars, which provides the important element of adaptability into the mix. Ultimately, the message of Scorpio is presented to us this week in an optimal package of discriminating strength and determined compromise. Scorpio's truth-seeking encourages deep connections with others. Although we may be tempted at times to descend into the less attractive controlling instincts of Scorpio, there are welcome counter-balances that keep us focused on the developing potential for deepening connection and pragmatic initiatives. We must not fool ourselves into believing that we have 'all the answers' or that we need to do it all ourselves. Rather, we need to stay open to the continuing parade of new and valuable alternative perspectives.

The Sun's arrival in Scorpio has us leaning towards keeping our own counsel. However, if we do so, we may miss important perspectives. The challenge is to blend compassion and cooperation. There is pressure on Monday to find a way to clearly communicate our goals to others. Tempting detours and distractions may drain our focus. Tuesday's Scorpio New Moon helps us to adapt to changing circumstances with creativity and adaptability. It is important to continue to nurture and deepen our connections to others. Wednesday's active environment is steered towards 'deeper waters' of truth and awareness. New routes to creative collaboration are opened. There is some self-righteous idealism to contend with on Thursday. Even so, there are valuable tools to turn 'stumbling blocks into stepping stones'. Sorting through the details begins to draw our focus on Friday. We can embrace a more easy-going tone while still using exacting methods and a rigorous attention to detail. Faith is encouraged. We may need to watch out for getting our 'hand stuck in the gears' by trying to take control on Saturday. We will be well served to let go of outcomes instead of trying to 'run the show'.
