Mercury in Gemini - Curiosity

"We cannot think of being acceptable to others until we have first proven acceptable to ourselves."

— Malcolm X

A great deal of this week's journey is focused directly on understanding the lessons of this year's overarching Saturn-Uranus square. We can begin to recognize that this pressurized atmosphere is forcing us to look within ourselves and deal with our basic sense of self-worth. Pluto is now retrograde, encouraging us to look within ourselves to see what needs changing — or what needs healing. Last week's Scorpio Full Moon may have revealed uncomfortable truths related to our limitations. There is an increased imperative this week produced by the involvement of Chiron in Aries, sextiling Saturn, that is now ruled by Mars in the protective —and sensitive — sign of Cancer. The waning lunar cycle sends us through a series of challenging obstacles, forcing us to deal with personal limitations. As Mars approaches a square to Chiron this week, the emotional stakes are raised and we are pushed to find resolution to our inner doubts and address any issues surrounding our self-worth and self-confidence. When we face challenges, we may begin to doubt ourselves, our purpose, or our plans. Our confidence wanes, along with our self-esteem, and our sense of self-worth. The week begins in what is likely to feel like a particularly restrictive atmosphere, full of challenges and obstacles. We may be painfully aware of our limitations and find it difficult to take charge or even clearly communicate what we want to accomplish. Mercury arrives in it's home sign of Gemini on Monday evening. With Mercury in Gemini the doors to more productive communication slowly begin to open. We arrive at something like an "ah-hah!" moment where we begin to recognize that a change in our approach will do more to remove the obstacles and challenges that seem to be slowing us down. Essentially, we find more clarity to understand that when we aren't getting the responses we want from others, we may need to look inside and check our own level of confidence and belief in ourselves. By the end of the week, we may be prone to aggressiveness and/or protectiveness if we haven't managed to find a way to ground our sense of self-worth deep within ourselves, rather than look towards external assessments and the perspectives of others.

Our ability to take charge is restricted on Sunday. The challenge is to let go of any expectation of quick progress. Further challenges on Monday could encourage a paranoid belief that there's some kind of 'plot' to keep us from moving forward. Rather than taking the obstacles personally, we'll do better to look within in order to see what is restricting our perspective. By Tuesday, we can begin to recognize how to change our approach and deal with the restrictions and limitations in entirely new ways. Further breakthroughs are likely on Wednesday. There is a rather spontaneous and unpredictable environment where we need to stay flexible and alert. We are encouraged to test our wings a bit on Thursday, trying out new approaches that rely on confidence and self-worth to move ahead more productively. Responsibility, gratitude and compassion will help us to stay on track. As limitations seem to fall away on Friday, we may lose our focus when we don't have something to push against. When the door opens, we should take the opportunity to go through it! We may be prone to aggressiveness on Saturday if we haven't managed to bolster our sense of self-worth this week. The overriding imperative is to believe in ourselves.
