Mercury in Aquarius

Mercury in Aquarius - Stubborn Determination

"The earth is my body, my head is in the stars."

— Maude (Harold & Maude)
Colin Higgins

As we move through the 'waxing phase' of the powerfully intuitive lunar cycle, we may find ourselves struggling when various elements of pragmatism are introduced. We also have a rather surprising need to feel some kind of 'emotional safety' which may present conflicts with our creative vision or goals. Our vision continues to be fed by powerful — even stubborn — determination but it may not really be at all supported by the 'facts on the ground' — essentially, reality. Our dreams, fueled by a sense of destiny and strong intuitive guidance, need to find some connection to the tangible, material realm or they will evaporate when we actually try to put them to work. The retrograde Mercury contributes to a continuing lack of clarity — the details. As well, communication, collaboration, and cooperation are problematic. However, Mercury moves back into Aquarius by Wednesday of this week and Venus arrives in her comfortable home of Taurus. While freedom and independence are important with Mercury in Aquarius, we may also begin to find ways to smooth over differences and effectively convey our message to others. Details may still be 'sparse' but our broader goals somehow seem to help us to find common ground and opportunities to work together. Ultimately, the details will begin to fill in after next Monday's Virgo Full Moon (March 9th, 10:47 AM PDT 19° Virgo/Pisces) and the return to direct motion of Mercury on the following day. But with the Sun tightly conjunct Neptune at Full Moon, we will have to work very hard to bridge the gap between our dreams and the tangible, material facts on the ground.

We are likely to find ourselves trying to go more than one direction at the same time on Sunday. Our progress is haphazard and uneven. The lack of clarity is especially troublesome on Monday and may produce some depression or dissolution. We'll do better to focus on our Big Picture progress. We begin to regain our confidence on Tuesday which, in turn, helps us to get better organized. Mercury steps back into Aquarius on Wednesday and Venus arrives in Taurus. We begin to smooth over some of the rough edges of our interactions and feel some motivation to build cooperation. However, we stubbornly hold tight to our creative vision even when we can't clearly articulate the details. Slowdowns and complications surface on Thursday when we run up against conflicts with any pragmatic search for a more detailed understanding. We're more inclined to reach for the map, rather than 'follow our vision'. We're likely to feel even more vulnerable on Friday and may try to obscure our insecurity with 'bluff & bluster'. There is a strong sense of responsibility emerging on Saturday which may feel like it is placing limits on our freedom. There is building recognition that we need to bridge the gap between passionate vision and tangible facts.
