Mars-Neptune Square

Mars-Neptune Square - Bubbles Burst

"Treat those who are good with goodness, and also treat those who are not good with goodness. Thus goodness is attained. Be honest to those who are honest, and be also honest to those who are not honest. Thus honesty is attained."

— Lao Tzu

As we emerge from the foggy Neptune dominated atmosphere of the past few months, our challenge is to be honest — honest about what we see, what we feel, and what we want. This week is dominated by mutable squares, which tend to produce an especially chaotic atmosphere. Idealism is strong but there are also strong overtones of pessimism — we know how things should be but can't quite find the faith to believe it will ever be so. There is a building group consciousness to embrace and nurture here. When we are honest about our own perspective, we contribute more than we may recognize to the overall progress of humanity. The challenge is to avoid getting stuck with our own perspective and lose the benefit of the many other perspectives that are chaotically surfacing everywhere we look. Flexibility and satisfactory compromise will do wonders at dissipating this week's pessimism and chaos. We should not mistake our honest expression with absolute Truth. When we seek to adhere to strict, dogmatic pronouncements, we miss the subtle, dynamic, expanding group consciousness that allows room for growth. So we can't simply be honest and say, "that's it — that's the truth". Once we've honestly shared what we see and feel, then we need to listen with curiosity and openness to the perspective that others are sharing. The Mars-Neptune square on Friday may have us feeling as though our idealistic bubbles are bursting which is the point when our willingness to accept input and guidance from others will be most valuable.

Sunday's environment is especially curious and revealing. Trickery and deception are laughably ineffective. Sagging optimism has us feeling as though there are few productive opportunities to pursue. Monday's chaos is met with a surprising amount of inertia. Individual initiatives don't produce the results we want unless we're willing to funnel our energy through group efforts. Impatience and emotional sensitivity are especially disruptive on Tuesday. We need to take time to listen carefully to the resistance we're facing and examine the obstacles closely. We're likely to feel like cutting our losses on Wednesday and quickly dispatch the dead weight. We find more opportunity for clear communication than we have seen in months! It's important that we move beyond simply visualizing and actually speak our intentions out loud. Thursday provides us some space for adjustment of our intentions although it may feel as though we are facing more obstacles. Pessimism may resurface on Friday but can be alleviated by actively seeking satisfactory compromises. By Saturday, we may be tempted to try to lock down our ideas and our message, rather than staying open to continued input. Without flexibility, we are likely to find ourselves wallowing in pessimistic confusion.
