Mars Leaves Aries
Mars Leaves Aries - The Pioneer Leaves Home
"If you do not expect the unexpected, you will not recognize it when it arrives."
— Heraclitus
This week's challenge is to recognize unrealistic or impractical aspirations without holding back on the strong desire to experiment and innovate. The challenges are most likely to show up in our relationships with others. We are in an entirely new environment and still trying to get our bearings so our ability to communicate our new perspectives and evolving vision is especially difficult. As we move through the week, there are even more moving parts to contend with. Venus moves into sometimes stifling Capricorn, Mercury leaves Capricorn for the erratic freedom of Aquarius, and Mars leaves Aries, where it has been since late June of 2020, and moves towards an impulsive conjunction with Uranus in Taurus. These three 'personal' planets signal a significant shift in how we relate to each other and it is important to allow others as much freedom as we want for ourselves. This week has the potential to bring about a significant realignment of alliances and associations but we may also find that the process of 'hashing out' our differing perspectives results in the discovery of a magical 'third way' of proceeding that honors both past experience and innovative new ideas. For the most part, however, we have begun to eschew 'the past' and look towards the future with a powerful imperative to stake our claims and establish our place. There is a quality of ego-based determination in the ingress of Mars into Taurus — the imperative to root our ego-identification assertively. However the overall push is towards common effort and collaborative innovation and is the driving force in this environment. This week's challenges are likely to highlight these 'ego-based' imperatives but will ultimately help us to understand and appreciate differing perspectives. Next week's Capricorn New Moon (9:00 PM PST Tuesday January 12th 23° Capricorn) will conjunct Pluto, signifying a potent transformational energy. While some may certainly experience some disappointment with the direction of this transformational energy, we will also begin to find some stabilization upon which we can set the 'cornerstones' of a new foundation.
The urge to expand and innovate is strong on Sunday. Any impracticality is counter-balanced by the Moon's transit of Virgo. We may push the envelope of unrealistic dreams a bit too far on Monday but there is likely enough patience to allow some room for dreaming — or 'visioning'. Some may find themselves plagued with a bit of distrust in the evening until the Moon arrives in Libra around 9:30 PM. Trepidation is tempered with excitement on Tuesday. A surge of energy is felt just before Mars leaves Aries and arrives in Taurus on Wednesday. Determination begins to build in surprising ways but there is also a sense of disorientation that may keep us stuck in a loop of indecision. We may feel that there are too many options when we begin to see the implications of newly developing complications. Dedication and determination blend in grand harmony on Thursday. We seem to find the courage to dive headlong into the future with enthusiasm. Venus arrives in Capricorn just before Mercury leaves Capricorn for Aquarius on Friday. We may begin to recognize the possibility of new alliances or we may begin to see old alliances in a new and interesting light. There is an extraordinary amount of energy unleashed by the Moon's arrival in Sagittarius on Saturday. Surprises demand a great deal of spontaneous adjustment.
