Mars in Virgo - Sharp Elbows

This week's superior conjunction of Mercury to the Sun is also joined by Mars, imbuing a great deal of energy and determination into our new intellectual perspective. However, Mars in Virgo increases the sharpness of both elbows and tongues. The strong Virgo energy is encouraging us to be of service but that can easily tip over into, "Let ME fix YOU" — humility may be trampled by the strong imperatives and intentions to 'get this place cleaned up'. Last Friday's New Moon (3:37 AM PDT 6° Virgo), in a tight trine to Uranus, certainly quickened our intellect. But Virgo's desire to help may not be fully capable of grasping the entire picture so the help being offered may not actually be as helpful as we would like. Even though our intentions may be completely honorable, we need to remember that "They also serve who only stand and wait." We don't need to have all of the answers, even if the strong Mars in Virgo energy seems to compel us to take some action. In fact, detachment and self-affirmation will do more to help us to stay on track in order to be of use when needed but also be willing to step back when it is more appropriate. Last month's process was about learning about self-worth and self approval. If we have learned those lessons, we may feel that we are now ready to move forward and fix things. But instead, faith, humility and self-esteem must all be blended into our approach so that we recognize "what we can change" and also be willing to "accept the things we cannot change".

Mercury's trine to Uranus on Sunday quickens our intellect but may not be enough to help us sort out any of the emotional sensitivities that are floating around. Mars conjuncts the Sun on Monday, increasing energy levels but offering little clear direction. Even though our quickened minds may see many answers, when we try to articulate those answers, we may be louder and sharper than we realize. Tuesday brings the energy to a peak and suggests a powerful birth process, offering a strong sense of purpose. The VOC Moon on Wednesday may see us spinning our wheels. Emotions don't seem to have any productive outlets. Irrational demands will eventually be withdrawn. The importance of self-worth and self-approval is our focus on Thursday. We may discover that we have sacrificed important elements in order to gain approval and suddenly recognize that we need to reclaim those elements in order to stabilize our position. Another long VOC Moon on Friday could have us trying to face something 'head on'. However, we find very little satisfaction. Saturday's confusion may lead us to embrace some sort of empty rhetoric temporarily.
