This week begins with seeds of courage and optimism. However, a desire for some kind of excitement and the tendency to cling tightly to impractical dreams has restlessness building all week, undercutting any fleeting sense of security, stability, or optimism. The Sun enters Gemini on Wednesday and moves into a most helpful trine to Saturn and Pallas, ahead of Friday's Gemini New Moon (10:32 AM PDT 2° Gemini), encouraging a willingness to expand understanding through learning. Nonetheless, courage and optimism slowly turns to restless impatience as the Sun moves past the trine to Saturn and begins to form an especially uncomfortable square to Mars in Pisces. The Gemini New Moon ushers in a precise, intellectual atmosphere which is challenged by strong emotions and compulsion-driven restlessness spurred on by the Piscean Mars. The unrealistic idealism produced by the ongoing square of Neptune to the stationary retrograde Venus raises the stakes and makes the challenge of reconciling intellect and emotion even more intractable. Simple, practical solutions abound but are tossed aside in the search for more 'sexy solutions' that feed a lingering desire for exciting, new innovations. Mixing intellect and emotion is something like mixing 'oil and water', requiring the emulsifier of trust in the process. But the process often seems hopelessly mired in confusion and distracted by restless impatience. The tiresome drone of everyday life's challenges don't seem to offer the kind of excitement that is especially alluring this week. Even so, we continue to look for some kind of stability, despite the restlessness. The strong Gemini energy does produce a curiosity and fascination with learning, despite the challenges. The Sun's crossing of Taurus/Gemini cusp (Air/Earth) points to the need to embrace multiple viewpoints and perspectives — mediators or translators to help unwind the confusion and blend the conflicting energies into a coherent plan to move forward.

Sunday's courage and optimism offers the prospect of significant achievements. However, the atmosphere does not make demands and the opportunities may easily slip by unnoticed. Optimism is undercut by uncertainty on Monday. Although we may find a bit of luck, we don't feel confident that our 'luck' will hold. Tuesday's atmosphere is activating, stirred by the Moon's squares to Pluto and Jupiter. However, the evening's Moon-Saturn square chips away at any remaining optimistic courage. The Sun's arrival in Gemini on Wednesday encourages a curious engagement and a practical approach to learning. Thursday's gifts are wrapped in simplicity but, without flashy adornments, we may miss them entirely as we continue to look for excitement. Friday's New Moon offers a wealth of precise intellect and logic. However, emotions and compulsions may derail the intellectual insights quickly. Saturday's moody restlessness is especially uncomfortable and may keep us from moving forward if we aren't able to simply trust the process and 'carry on'.
