Aquarius Leo Full Moon - Optimistic Intentions

Mercury moved into 'retrograde territory' at the end of last week and will be doing an interesting dance with Jupiter throughout the retrograde period, providing buoyant optimism but leaving us vulnerable to abject disappointment if everything doesn't work out just perfectly. The insistent optimism that is encouraged by the Mercury/Jupiter conjunction, coupled with the potential for self-deception that is engendered by the building Neptune/South Node conjunction could send many of us through the 'school of hard knocks' without actually passing the course or accepting a more realistic view. Nonetheless, the upcoming retrograde Mercury period offers a helpful period of review, during which we may be able to set aside perfectionism, unrealistic idealism and over-optimism. This week's Aquarius Leo Full Moon (August 18th 2:26 AM PDT 25° Aquarius/Leo) offers enthusiastic optimism coupled with strong individual initiative but there are also threads of humility that are woven into the fabric. Reassurance and approval from others becomes less important and we feel more comfortable offering appreciation to others since our own sense of self-worth is stabilized and strengthened. Rather than needing to abandon our sense of self in order to enlist in a greater cause, there are broad organizational capabilities that help us to see the value in each individual's unique abilities without needing to compare our own abilities with the abilities of others. The Moon trines Venus on Sunday evening and helps begin the week with a spirit of cooperation. The channels of individual expression open wide on Monday and the magnetic environment helps to organize individual capabilities into new and exciting patterns where each individual plays an important part. Tuesday offers exciting, spontaneous opportunities for each of us to demonstrate our abilities, leading to an intoxicating sense of personal self-worth. We could easily become vulnerable to flattery and self-indulgence on Wednesday if we forget to incorporate elements of service and humility into our overall approach. The sense of personal worth and optimism reaches a crescendo on Thursday under the Aquarius Leo Full Moon but we shouldn't forget that our optimistic intentions will be under review during the retrograde Mercury period. The Pisces Moon on Friday may lead to some dissolute demoralization along with an intuitive recognition that we may actually have to do some real work in order to achieve our optimistic intentions. Nailing down details seems particularly arduous. The Moon arrives in Aries just after noon on Saturday, offering a surge of energy and personal initiative which rekindles the week's optimism. The organizational framework is in place and there seems to be little uncertainty or doubt to slow us down. However, we shouldn't forget that perfectionism or disappointment could easily derail our initiatives in the coming weeks if we don't stay grounded and maintain humility and gratitude for what is actually provided.
