Weekly Astrology Forecast: August 2 - August 8

The fixed sign vice-grip Jupiter/Saturn square is unmistakable this week. However, Mars trines Saturn from Cancer to Scorpio, offering some emotional relief from this tightly controlled, high pressure atmosphere. The key seems to be to watch our level of defensiveness as well as any impatience with what can seem like frustrating inertia or intractable resistance. The current, waning Moon phase, along with Saturn's station to go direct, offers some significant opportunities for transcendence, allowing us to set aside past disappointments and move forward with planning for the future. Tuesday offers the best opportunity of the week for setting aside defensiveness in favor of humility and the willingness to make important adjustments. On Wednesday, Mercury joins Jupiter and Venus in the square with Saturn, leading to a another burst of significant concern over our image and the approval of others. Thursday increases the level of determination, leading some to push forward alone — "I'll do it MYSELF!" It may be that the tendency to avoid any cooperative effort is because of a desire to maximize our individual status. Friday's impatience produces a rather unstable environment in which we need to monitor our responses closely. Particularly during a retrograde Venus, it can be very easy to misinterpret simple questions as accusations or assume opposition that just isn't there. By Saturday, the let-down is unmistakable and many of us are overcome by insecurity, moodiness or depression. However, there are a number of shifts in tone that begin with Mars leaving Cancer for Leo as the week ends. As the shifts continue into next week with Jupiter entering Virgo next Tuesday, we'll need to work on letting go enough to recognize the new process that will begin next Friday at the New Moon (7:53 AM 21° Leo).
