Sun-Mars Trine - Pressurized Emotions

"Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate and doubt, to offer a solution everybody can understand."

— Colin Powell

Challenges produce a significant test of our character this week. We are prone to seeing more than we feel capable of handling — we can see the problems, challenges, and obstacles clearly but the solutions are 'obscured'. But there is as much to learn from our failures as from our successes this week. Responsibility is required in order to achieve at least some control over the extraordinary emotion and confusion stirred by last Thursday's Pisces New Moon (4:44 PM PST 9° Pisces). The direct station of Mars suggests a great deal of unstable, nervous energy, further stirring emotional, impulsive responses. Defensiveness is likely to emerge in at least some areas. Some will respond to the pressure by seeking an escape. Finding objectivity is actually the biggest challenge that we face, followed closely by impulsiveness, restlessness, and defensiveness. Nonetheless, opportunities abound this week. The Sun heads towards a stabilizing conjunction with Saturn which will complete just before next Thursday's Virgo Full Moon Eclipse (11:54 PM PDT 23° Virgo/Pisces). The forming Sun-Saturn conjunction points to the need for responsibility and signals that impulsive actions have unforeseen consequences that require proper resolutions. A Sun-Mars Trine also includes asteroid Vesta — forming a Grand Water trine on Friday — keeps emotions extremely strong and increasingly pressurized. There is no doubt that the pressure must find a release — it will not last forever. By the end of the week, we find increased ability to correct some of our missteps — actions taken in haste. We can begin to recognize that our need for others is greater than we may have anticipated. We may find that we have too soon dispatched with necessary support. The need to balance old approaches with new ideas becomes central to finding solutions. Just because something is 'new' does not make it better — but just because 'we've always done it this way' doesn't mean we should maintain the same approach. Clear-eyed awareness will help us to see what should be maintained, what should be discarded, and what should be integrated into 'a new plan'.

The Moon is VOC nearly all day on Sunday. We should be wary of impulsive optimism since what looks like an opening may actually be a trap. Consequences come to light on Monday. Surprises produce a clearer picture of where we stand but not clear solutions. There is significant power instilled in Tuesday's atmosphere, producing opportunities for planning and preparation. We have some success in finding a better sense of 'safety'. Impulsiveness and determination may reveal a streak of martyrdom on Wednesday. There is a powerful message coming forward but defensiveness is also possible. There is hope that we can gain some control over the highly emotional environment on Thursday. We gain an intellectual ability to 'tease' out possible solutions. Safety becomes a significant concern on Friday and escape may seem like the best option. Protectiveness seems more appealing than outright defiance or rebellion. We have the chance to begin to correct any missteps resulting from impulsiveness on Saturday. We are offered the opportunity to reconnect with potential allies whose support we have too soon dispatched and begin to rebuild a network of more effective support.
