Pisces New Moon

Pisces New Moon - Emotional Intensity

"And I could've done so many things, baby
If I could only stop my mind
From wonderin' what I left behind
And from worryin' 'bout this wasted time

This week begins with the direct station of Mars in Cancer and ends with Venus in Aries stationing retrograde — ruled by Mars. The mid-week Pisces New Moon (4:44 PM PST 9° Pisces) essentially marks the turning point between these two shifts and feels intensely personal. The strong Pisces influence is full of emotion and the potential for considerable confusion. There are points this week where it is easy to feel as though we have completely lost our way. Mars in Cancer, although now direct, only seems to add to the emotional intensity while keeping our focus on setting boundaries instead of taking direct action. The New Moon's square to Jupiter encourages a great deal of idealism which is encouraged by the Pisces energy. As well, Venus almost reaches a sextile to Jupiter before turning retrograde. A completed sextile might help us to effectively connect with others and put our idealism 'into action'. Instead, the retrograde station of Venus just misses the (sextile) connection and actually begins to tear away at Jupiter's idealism in ways that create more of a sense of isolation than connection. A retrograde Venus takes away the rosy glow of Venus — takes away our 'rose colored glasses' — and can bring feelings of disillusion and even paranoia. In this context, the Pisces New Moon and the new lunar cycle may seem to only create threatening or disorienting 'shadows'. Nonetheless, the strength of Pisces is found through faith and transcendence and this New Moon offers important support to rise above the fears and confusion in order to gain a clearer view. Jupiter's involvement in this equation demands the reexamination of our beliefs but also offers a route to expanded awareness that provides a broader, philosophical context. Venus will be retrograde through the entire month of March, getting back to the Sun on March 22nd and returning to direct motion on April 12th. The need to overcome fear with faith becomes increasingly important, especially at the point when Venus returns to Pisces on March 27 to conjunct Neptune and the Pisces North Node. At that point, opportunities for better connection, achieved through compassion and empathy, will begin to resurface. Ultimately, the Venus retrograde process — approximately 40 Days & 40 Nights — offers a far clearer perspective but can feel daunting and extremely threatening as we work through it. By the end of March, Neptune will arrive in Aries for the first time in 150 years. And by the end of April, Venus will return to Aries to conjunct Neptune in an entirely new context. By that point Mars will be in Leo and the Sun will be in Taurus — creating a marvelously powerful and creative three-way mutual reception of the Sun, Venus, and Mars. On a personal level this represents extraordinary empowerment, demolishing the shadows that can seem to be completely inescapable from the perspective that we find at the end of this week.

We feel a sense of relief on Sunday as doors open to a definitive expression of past frustration. However, that expression is more than likely to also stir up conflicts. There is a burst of detachment on Monday. Idealism begins to take hold but we feel a bit circumspect, preferring to 'bide our time'. There is a bit more 'active engagement' on Tuesday when we sense the expansion of our base of support. Nervousness keeps the energy difficult to direct, requiring responsibility. The erratic activity on Wednesday suggests that things do not turn out as planned. Sharp intuition and careful consideration is needed. Strength of character is tested in unforeseen ways on Thursday. The potential for deception and delusion is significant, suggesting that many are only seeing 'what they want to see'. We are prone to seeing far more than we can do anything about on Friday. We're inclined to make a 'tactical pullback' in order to conduct some kind of review process. Idealism is challenged and tested on Saturday and we struggle to find a clear sense of direction. It is easy to forget the importance of serving and caring for others.
