Mars-Jupiter Square — Peak Impatience

Impatience reaches a peak this week, stirred by the powerful dominance of Aries energy and a Mars-Jupiter square that completes on Monday. But the Moon is waning in light this week. We will eventually see a slow easing of the troubling impatience. We can begin to see that there might be 'light at the end of the tunnel' as optimism begins to displace impatience. Once we move past a Mercury-Pluto square on Tuesday, the residual stubbornness in the atmosphere may actually contribute to the waning intensity, slowing down our attempts to make 'forward progress'. By Wednesday, slowing intensity is further supported by the retrograde station of Pluto which begins to encourage us to turn our focus inward. There is a surprising element of 'consideration' that begins to take over from the impatience and impulsiveness dominating the atmosphere in the wake of the powerful Aries energies. A deterministic attitude surfaces, allowing us to give up trying to claim that we have more power than we really have — in essence, we can't change the world, we can only change ourselves. The revolutionary, unpredictable nature of Uranus — now in Gemini — is being temporarily stabilized by Mercury's rulership from Taurus. As well, there is additional help from the Venus-Mercury mutual reception — Venus ruling Mercury in Taurus, Mercury ruling Venus in Gemini. Nonetheless, by Friday, when the Moon arrives in Aquarius, there is an inspiring demand for freedom that unfolds. Any overbearing attempts at restriction are likely to lead to sudden and unexpected resistance. The shifts in the environment, late in the week, are bound to lead to feelings of alienation that make it difficult to maintain our balance. The need to make adjustments based upon the week's changes takes a toll. Misunderstandings and defensiveness is likely to surface in unpredictable ways. A strong sense of responsibility that supports the demand for freedom will be most helpful in finding a constructive way through the freewheeling, revolutionary atmosphere. Maintaining balance is crucial as the lunar cycle wanes. The next New Moon is still more than a week away (May 16th, 1:00 PM PDT 25° Taurus). The Sun will sextile Jupiter next week, further encouraging some degree of optimism even as the Moon wanes in light and various further rounds of unpredictability surface. The New Moon will conjunct Ceres and be very close to Mercury, suggesting more helpful, calming energies are on the way. As well, the Taurus New Moon's ruler, Venus, will be in a sextile to a Mars-Chiron conjunction (at the New Moon), continuing to support the 'healing insights' of Chiron in Aries, ahead of Chiron's ingress into Taurus next month.

There are any number of tempting distractions on Sunday. Perhaps the biggest stumbling block in the environment is finding a way to believe that we are safe to trust what others are saying. There is little inherent support in Monday's environment to tame the energy or provide the much needed self-disciple. Nonetheless, we may find glimmers of hope in the changes that are underway. We may find some unexpected and worthwhile results beginning to come to the surface on Tuesday. Despite the tension, we can begin to see that there may be 'light at the end of the tunnel'. There is a distinct slowing of intensity on Wednesday. There is a surprising element of 'consideration' that is beginning to take over from the impatience and impulsiveness that has been dominating the atmosphere. Misunderstandings are likely on Thursday as well as some 'hurt feelings'. There is a distinct lack of control in an atmosphere where maintaining control seems like an imperative. There is an inspiring demand for freedom that unfolds on Friday. Any overbearing attempts at restriction are likely to lead to sudden and unexpected resistance. Sharp intellect is supported on Saturday, as well as significant intuitive guidance. We can begin to recognize or identify how this week's shifts may have thrown us off balance — along with seeing a way to 're-balance'.
