Jupiter-Chiron Sextile
Jupiter-Chiron Sextile - Breakthroughs
"Not knowing when the dawn will come
I open every door."—Emily Dickinson
A remarkable series of hopeful, 'benefic' trines and sextiles unfold this week, putting an extraordinary number of opportunities in front of us. A Jupiter-Chiron sextile begins the week, amplified by Jupiter's square to the Lunar Nodes. Jupiter's square to the nodes opens us up to new perspectives and softens dogmatic beliefs. This is the third Jupiter-Chiron sextile of the cycle — the first two sextiles were back in October and November of 2024. In this environment, we are more likely to find ways to employ the innovative 'breakthrough' energy that is offered (than we were last fall). But there are even more magnificent opportunities opened up by a continuing string of trines and sextiles that complete throughout the week. The Sun sextiles Saturn before arriving in Gemini on Tuesday and heading toward a sextile to Neptune that completes on Thursday. Also on Thursday, Venus finally catches up to a trine to Mars, now that both have emerged from the shadow of their long, challenging retrograde journeys. By the end of the week, the Sun makes a highly intellectual and stimulating trine to Pluto. The Sun-Pluto trine closely coincides with Saturn's first ingress into Aries on Saturday. This week's Moon 'action' keeps the hopeful opportunities in focus, conjuncting Pluto at the beginning of the week and forming sextiles to both the Sun and Pluto on Thursday. By Friday, the Moon conjuncts Venus and trines Mars, further amplifying the Mars-Venus trine's promising interaction and hopeful excitement. Adding even more excitement and new ideas to the week is a Mercury-Uranus conjunction that completes along with the Sun-Pluto trine and Saturn's Aries ingress. It's hard to miss the shift away from the strong 'fixed sign' energy towards the stirred up Fire and Air energy. The Mercury-Uranus conjunction in Taurus is perhaps the most potent, remaining 'fixed sign' energy to remind us of the need to stay balanced and avoid succumbing to the rising desire to take 'quick shots' while the field seems to be so open. Of course, neither Mercury or Uranus are natural slow down influences even in grounded and methodical Taurus. But we also find some help to stay grounded this week by the Ceres-Neptune conjunction, which is following up on last Tuesday's (May 13th) Ceres-Saturn conjunction. Essentially, Ceres offers a reminder that the inspiration and 'vision' stirred by Neptune in Aries isn't enough without hard work and determined follow-through — which is, after all, the overall message of the current, waning lunar cycle (the Taurus New Moon on April 27th and the Scorpio Full Moon on May12th). Neptune and Ceres are both sending a message to remind us the our progress must not be made 'at the expense of others'. The element of responsibility requires a broad, humanitarian 'greatest good for the greatest number' awareness in order to be sustainable. The key is to understand the need for responsibility in order to make the most of this week's surge of activity and determined inspiration in order to 'grow productively' and make tangible, lasting progress. It will be especially important to remember these 'grounding' messages once Mercury arrives in Gemini on May 25th, to rule next Monday's Gemini New Moon (May 26th, 8:04 PM PDT 6° Gemini), when we are even more likely to feel that we're really 'off to the races'.
Sunday's energy allows a great deal of freedom to innovate. The key is 'letting go' of what isn't working without giving up on our overall goals and ambitions. Monday's gifts may feel quite overwhelming. We'll do well to stick to gratitude and avoid arrogantly taking credit for our good fortune. Tuesday's activity is geared towards breaking down intransigence in order to prepare for the ongoing shifts. Despite what may seem to be a rather unsteady energy, it is important to 'double down' on innovation and stay focused on determined effort. The key on Wednesday is to better understand how to responsibly make use of our determined inspiration in order to 'grow productively' and make tangible, lasting progress. Essentially, inspiration and 'vision' isn't enough without hard work and determined follow-through. The challenge on Thursday is staying balanced in the face of a number of tantalizing, exciting, new ideas that are all seeming to vie for our attention. A significant swirl of activity puts an extraordinary number of opportunities in front of us. It is important to remember on Friday that what we gain can easily be dissipated if we aren't finding ways to stay 'grounded'. Ideally, with the necessary balance, responsibility will provide the necessary foundation for durable, innovative progress. New ideas explode into our awareness on Saturday. But what remains the most important factor is maintaining a reliable, tangible measure of our progress and our initiatives.
