Mercury-Uranus - What is Reality?

The Mercury-Uranus conjunction is with us all week as Mercury stations and turns direct in the middle of the week. The change in direction is likely to be particularly disorienting. The Mercury-Uranus conjunction creates cracks in our belief structures that are revealed in the way we perceive the world around us — even threatening our grasp of seeming 'reality'. Throughout the periods of the retrograde Venus, Saturn, Jupiter and Mercury, our overall focus has been and continues to be directed towards a comprehensive review of our belief systems and structures. The next few weeks will be dominated by the square between Saturn and Chiron. The Saturn/Chiron square breaks open the review process and we suddenly begin to recognize how our beliefs and our notion of 'reality' are inextricably intertwined. As we unwind and disconnect from some of our outmoded beliefs, our reality begins to change, producing a great deal of disorientation and confusion. There are few if any guideposts to be found and consistency is out the window. There is plenty of energy but few obvious ways to channel that energy. However, the challenges inherent in restructuring our sense of reality this week are really just a temporary bump in the road. By the end of the week, we begin the hard work of rebuilding a new sense of reality, along with a new set of beliefs.

Sunday's dreamy Moon/Neptune trine could lead to a rather self-indulgent shopping spree but there is little thought to how we can manage any new accumulation. Stress builds quickly on Monday as we begin to recognize that some of our most cherished beliefs are less certain than we thought. Certainty dissipates even more on Tuesday, leading to a highly unstable environment, under the Mercury-Uranus conjunction, that may feel quite frightening when we can't find any guideposts to follow. Mercury turns direct on Wednesday in a tenacious and creatively energetic environment. However, if we don't find any easy way to channel the energy, it may be tempting to slide into self-indulgent lethargy. The temptations expand on Thursday and it requires a great deal of mental effort to assert our individual identity without any definitive support or approval. We finally begin to recognize the need to expand our connections and rebuild our alliances on Friday. Nonetheless, we will find no satisfaction if we simply 'go along to get along' and the importance of maintaining our individual sovereignty is inescapable. The rebuilding process begins in earnest on Saturday. A feeling of freedom is tempered by the realization that there will be hard work required in order to find a new sense of stability after this week's destabilizing shifts.
