Virgo New Moon Solar Eclipse
Virgo New Moon Solar Eclipse - Out Of the Darkness
"Courage is grace under pressure."
—Ernest Hemingway
This week begins at the Virgo New Moon Solar Eclipse (12:53 PM PDT 29° Virgo) — a rare second Virgo New Moon for the year. All New Moons represent the 'dark of the Moon' but with the opposition to Saturn and out-of-sign opposition to Neptune (as well as the eclipse, of course) the 'darkness' seems to be compounded. There is remarkable uncertainty and, with the Moon's quick arrival in Libra and the Autumnal Equinox the following day (the Sun's arrival in Libra), Libra's indecision is also compounded under the seasonal shift. However, we also find opportunities for a number of sudden, intriguing breakthroughs. Both the Moon and the Sun, at the beginning of Libra form the same 'Kite' formation that we saw with the arrival of Mars in Libra on August 6th and Mercury's arrival in Libra on September 18th. The potent Grand Air Trine (Moon-Sun/Uranus/Pluto) in this context seems to increase the potential for remarkable revelations. Pluto is nearly stationary (although it does not station direct until October 13th) and is increasing the available transformative energy. As well, Mars arrives in Scorpio just after the New Moon and will head into an extremely pressurized square to Pluto by Wednesday. The tension is also increased by an especially uncomfortable YOD, formed by Mars in quincunx with Uranus and Neptune. The 'tight control' that both Mars and Pluto would like to exercise are undercut by the action of Uranus and Neptune. In essence, while Mars and Pluto are battling for 'control', Neptune and Uranus are offering increasing intuitive guidance and insight — the sudden breakthroughs that can help us to find our way 'out of the darkness and into the light'. This is an extraordinarily stressful environment but once Mars begins to wend it's way 'out of the hot seat', we have better opportunities to get to the 'heart of the matter' and more confidently trust the hunches and intuitive clues that have been 'dropped' by Uranus and Neptune. By the end of the week we begin to get beyond the 'guesswork', uncertainty, and indecision that has been fostered by the 'darkness' at the beginning of this new lunar cycle. We can begin to 'ferret out' meaning and develop a more comfortable perspective on the new environment that we have landed in. It is interesting to note that the Moon and Sun's activation of the 'Kite' configuration will not be the last of the year — Venus will arrive in Libra on October 14th and once again activate this remarkable configuration. (Venus will actually form this configuration one more time — in August of 2026 in an environment that looks much less restrained and controlled).
It isn't easy to see where we are heading on Sunday and the most likely response is to pull back or withdraw. Perhaps the most effective activity is to engage in a review — if, for no other reason than to understand how we have arrived where we find ourselves. The 'visibility' improves on Monday. However, a rather uncontrollable series of revelations surface that don't really allow us to gain any sort of balance or a broad perspective. While intensity is certain to build throughout the day on Tuesday, there is little cohesive dialog or any sort of 'plan-of-action' to follow through on. We may be quite tempted to try some kind of 'sleight-of-hand' in order to take advantage of confusion or misunderstandings. Frustration is Wednesday's overriding concern as information leads to exposure and an unraveling of some of our 'best laid plans'. Those with objectivity and detachment are actually 'worth their weight in gold'. Although there is some instability in Thursday's atmosphere, frustrations seem to ease and things seem to go more smoothly than Wednesday. We gain some capacity to make the best of the challenges that have surfaced over the past few days, while finding ways to make 'stepping stones out of stumbling blocks'. Friday offers us a chance to raise our spirits and find a more productive use of the swirl of energies that have been 'bombarding' us all week. We have the chance to get our bearings, catch our breath, and otherwise get a handle on exactly where we find ourselves. Saturday gives us a marvelous opportunity to 'ferret out' meaning and find a more comfortable perspective for the new environment that we are dealing with in the new lunar cycle. As our intuition has improved and we have moved past some of the significant mid-week frustrations and tension, we can begin to glean clues about the new directions and opportunities that are being presented to us.
