Scorpio New Moon
Scorpio New Moon - Personal Defense
"This we know: the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself."
— Chief Seattle
Deep emotional intensity builds all week this week despite the waning Moon. Friday's Scorpio New Moon (5:46 AM PDT 9° Scorpio) does not offer enough clarity or sense of community to really dissipate the deeply personal, individual focus on personal safety and security. Mars is approaching the first of three, incredibly intense oppositions to Pluto. Mercury makes a trine to both Mars and Neptune near the New Moon which only seems to raise the stakes of our personal, emotional dramas and distracts us from the bigger picture perspectives that are quietly being offered. The Mars-Pluto opposition does offer expanded awareness of our interconnectedness but only if we can find a way to step back from the intensity of emotions and the significant confusion stirred up by Neptune's involvement. Neptune only seems to encourage us to weave 'tall tales' but not increase the clarity of our message or the depth of compassion that is needed. There are significant 'tie ins' to the upcoming period when Mars will retrograde (December 6, 2024 - February 23, 2025) and we will be required to more fully examine how our personal sense of emotional safety affects our ability to see a broader perspective. Much of this week's challenge centers on our ability to focus directly on the steps we need to take in order to achieve the tangible goals that would provide the security that we believe we need. Unfocused activity can quickly stir up our emotions and leave us overwhelmed and hopelessly confused. The solutions will only be found through effective connections with others but with both the Sun and Mercury in Scorpio, we aren't especially inclined to share our perspectives — and especially our vulnerabilities — with anyone else. We're more inclined to close down, which only makes our world seem smaller, rather than larger. Mercury does arrive in Sagittarius by the end of the week, suggesting that we may begin to recognize a 'bigger picture perspective' However, there are adjustments required that may, at least initially, feel quite uncomfortable before we are able to set aside the powerful emotions in this atmosphere and begin to see a way to effectively connect with others.
It isn't easy to see the the valuable support that is offered on Sunday. Although there is a rather open environment, many of us seem to miss the clarity that is offered. Our focus is challenged on Monday. While there is extra compassion and creativity offered, the lack of focus can find us in pursuit of a mirage. We lose our resolve on Tuesday and our progress is stalled. The more that we look for clues, the more confused we feel. There is a swirl of intellectual activity on Wednesday that is infused with deep emotions and penetrating insights. However, sharing these insights with others is incredibly difficult. There is an intense round of activity on Thursday. We may feel that we're able to get away with saying just about anything but the confusion that we stir is likely to come back on us. There is a 'reawakened' awareness of our need for community beginning to form on Friday. However, it isn't easy to connect that awareness to the intense emotional turmoil that is being stirred. Resentment or confusion has the potential to keep us blinded to the important opportunities for connection on Saturday. We are vulnerable to manipulation and deception.
