Sagittarius Full Moon - Ancestral Tensions
"When you are in doubt, be still, and wait; when doubt no longer exists for you, then go forward with courage.
So long as mists envelop you, be still; be still until the sunlight pours through and dispels the mists
— as it surely will. Then act with courage."—Chief White Eagle, Ponca
Jupiter arrives in Cancer on Monday of this week, taking an 'exalted' position just in time to 'rule' the Sagittarius Full Moon (12:43 AM PDT 20° Sagittarius/Gemini) early on Wednesday morning. Jupiter is a 'benefic', that is, it is generally considered a positive, optimistic and beneficial influence. But there is a 'catch' to the active, buoyant, and optimistic atmosphere that 'benefic' Jupiter offers this week. Jupiter makes the 3rd of 3 squares to Saturn (actually completing at the beginning of next week), which is challenging that buoyancy. Jupiter's comfortable repose in Cancer fosters a love of home and a deep respect for tradition and protocol. Saturn certainly appreciates tradition but, in Aries, Saturn's demands for self-expression keep our feet to the fire in terms of honestly demonstrating our 'true self' and following through on what we initiate — even if we challenge those cherished traditions. The tension between individual self-expression and loyalties to our tribe or family is likely to be disorienting. Mercury squares Saturn and Neptune ahead of Jupiter — early this week — creating some significant uncertainty and indecision despite the highly active, optimistic atmosphere. To some extent, we may try to tell ourselves to 'just get over it'. But there is a great deal of impatience building this week as Mars approaches an extremely tense square to Uranus that will complete at about the same time as the Saturn-Jupiter square completes — early next week. Saturn is pushing us to follow through on our initiatives. Mars in Leo is putting our 'egos' on the line. The squares from Jupiter and Uranus, respectively, are encouraging idealism but aren't terribly helpful in terms of 'follow-through' or creating an impressive, 'showy' presentation that satisfies our ego involvement. Mercury's arrival in Cancer, early this week, forms an extended sextile to Venus in her home sign of Taurus. The Mercury-Venus sextile is the main 'lifeline' that can help us to navigate this week's tension. We are encouraged to find ways to compromise or at least slow down enough to look for productive solutions. As that Mercury-Venus sextile begins to separate, later this week, we may find ourselves trying to simply sugar coat any undercurrents of discomfort. But this week's tensions are ultimately helping us to put a strong and lasting foundation into place that will help us to ride out the continuing shifts and 'turning points' that we are dealing with throughout this Summer. Once Uranus reaches Gemini on July 7, we will begin to recognize how important that the foundations put into place this week really are, seeing that they can help us to make the most of the 'brand new world' that is developing all around us.
Optimism is high on Sunday but we continue to be challenged to integrate our intellect with our emotions. Inflated expectations can lead to emotional let downs even when our intellect recognizes aspects of progress. Activity is high on Monday and a sense of 'imperative' is building. We feel confidence and inspiration. Activity continues at an increasingly intense level on Tuesday. The tone of our communication seems to represent the building levels of tension. The early part of the day on Wednesday is especially buoyant and optimistic. But later in the day, we find that some of the optimism is undercut by over-confidence or a lack of organization. We struggle to make decisions on Thursday. Fears of exposure keep us off balance and contributes to a strategy of 'people pleasing' that is not wholly satisfying. We're inclined to try to 'sugar coat' any undercurrents of discomfort on Friday. We feel a powerful determination to take action based on the new perspectives that we have acquired earlier in the year. An important 'foundation' is laid on Saturday, which marks a significant turning point. Individual self-expression is extremely powerful.
