There is an extremely potent initiatory power at work this week, despite the waning lunar cycle. Saturn square Venus produces some intense pressure on our ability to express ourselves effectively but Chiron is in the mix as well — pushing us ever closer to connecting to our inner wisdom. At the heart of the new ideas and strong initiatives this week is Mercury's inferior conjunction with the Sun on the Aries/Taurus cusp on Wednesday. Mercury moves back into independent Aries, while the Sun moves forward into stabilizing and determined Taurus. Independent new thinking takes root beneath the surface and won't be obvious, even though there are visible clues if we pay close attention. Nonetheless, the scope of the shift runs much deeper than we can see on the surface. Intuition plays a significant role in our understanding of what is happening around us. We're mostly just feeling our way through this week. The connections we have with others play an extremely important role in these shifts but we may run into significant difficulty determining the right levels of trust and compassion. The work to be done this week is an inside job but we still need outside stimulation in order to sharpen the clarity of our insights.

The week begins with a strong sense of restriction and heightened awareness of the requirements of following proper protocol. The slowdown is unmistakable in the atmosphere produced by Saturn square Venus. We need to maintain patience on Sunday, despite running into some seemingly unnecessary obstacles. Now that Venus has turned direct, charm and amiability is available to soften the continued slowdown on Monday. The Moon triggers the Pluto/Uranus square on Tuesday producing some discomfort associated with the desire to take an independent route. However, the lack of a clear path in any direction is more likely to lead to confusion, rather than any breakout. There is more room for free thinking on Wednesday and activity picks up. Nonetheless, the erratic, spontaneous environment could produce some surprising repercussions. The power of the initiatory shift in our thinking is strongly felt on Thursday, although it isn't easy to see the full depth and breadth of the shift. Mars arrives in Gemini on Friday, prompting a more direct search for clear answers. By the time we get to Saturday, the pull between opposing beliefs and viewpoints is intense, demanding magnetic control in order to avoid simply falling into line on one side or the other.
