Scorpio New Moon - Tsunami Waves

"Lor', there been times that I thought
I couldn't last for long
But now, I think I'm able to
Carry on
It's been a long
A long time comin', but I know
A change gon' come"

—Sam Cooke
A Change Is Gonna Come

The Jupiter-Saturn trine (from Cancer to Pisces) gets to within 10 minutes of completion this week. Even though the aspect does not fully perfect, it is being intensively activated — forming Grand Water Trines from the Sun, Mars, Mercury, and Venus — beginning last month (by Mars) and extending well into next month (when Mercury returns to form the final Grand Water Trine on December 6th). The first exact Saturn-Jupiter trine aspect won't actually complete until September 1, 2026 when Jupiter is in Leo and Saturn has returned to Aries. This year's connection involves the deeply emotional, water sign element while next year's completion brings forward the activating, energetic fire sign energy. To some extent at least, this suggests that what we are 'watering' or nurturing now under the current Water Sign energy, will come into bloom when the Jupiter-Saturn trine, in the activating Fire element, is exact next year. Both the Sun and Moon, in Scorpio, 'carry the light' of the Jupiter-Saturn trine into Wednesday's Scorpio New Moon (10:46 PM PST 28° Scorpio) — an incredibly powerful New Moon with the Sun in an inferior conjunction with Mercury, opposing Uranus, and trining Neptune. This is an incredibly powerful, cleansing, healing, and revealing tsunami wave of Water Sign energy — given an added, extreme jolt from the Uranus opposition! The Scorpio energy encourages release — purging of old ideas — in order to 'clear the decks' for what is to come when our efforts begin to bloom in the coming year. Mercury's involvement provides an intellectual 'channel', encouraging us to pull together our experience into a cohesive strategy for moving forward with the new insights and fresh determination that is offered. But most of this week's activity is actually guided only by intuitive clues. Mercury sextiles Pluto early in the week — encouraging a deep dive into whatever clues are offered — then Mercury moves back into Scorpio for 'further investigation', just before the New Moon. The New Moon quickly begins to infuse courage into a fate-like sense of purpose. The Sun's arrival in Sagittarius, at the end of the week, boosts our confidence a bit, cheered on by Mars in Sagittarius. The retrograding Mercury helps to keep the 'communication channel' — between Scorpio's courageous determination and Sagittarian confidence — open and flowing. It is, in fact, our mercurial intellect that needs to do most of the intellectual, analytical, 'heavy lifting' this week in order to make the most of the extraordinary possibilities that are offered. Since Mercury is retrograde and influenced significantly by Neptune, we must also stay closely in touch with the intuitive clues that are offered and have faith that, as we proceed through this lunar cycle, we will find increasing clarity of purpose as new information is revealed. It is also quite important to recognize that, while Jupiter has turned retrograde, Saturn is stationing to turn direct (November 28th). This suggests a shifting, delicate 'balance of power' between Jupiter and Saturn, creating significant 'fluidity' (uncertainty). Jupiter retrograde in Cancer emphasizes a concern for safety, suggesting some challenges with defensiveness and isolation. As Saturn begins to station direct in Pisces, the power balance will shift towards a more pronounced incentive to sacrifice elements of the past (encouraged by the Scorpio New Moon) that no longer serve us. The defensiveness of Saturn in Pisces is a 'life and death' struggle — focusing not merely on individual safety but on the need to find a deeper, eternal, Universal Connection. Even with the Sun's arrival in Sagittarius, our confidence continues to fluctuate. While the Scorpio New Moon may not provide us with extra confidence, what we are offered is extra courage — we will do well to consider that confidence is not the same as courage. The Sagittarius Sun's confidence can encourage an idealistic optimism which quickly leads to irresponsibility. But the message of this week's Scorpio New Moon is to have the courage to continue to seek deeper truths no matter where it may lead us. It is especially important to set aside self-righteousness and any version of an attitude that 'might makes right' and rather, continue to seek deeper truths and reasonable consensus. Finally, Uranus completes another sextile to Neptune this week — as if there isn't enough going on! We can refer back to the end of August for better understanding of how this aspect relates to the significant global changes that are unfolding. The importance of this connection highlights the immense stakes surrounding finding a clarity of purpose through an objective examination of where we are and how we choose to create change moving forward. This is an extremely empowering aspect but one that demands clear, objective vision of what we want our future to be.

Sunday's atmosphere is not especially aggressive unless and until opposition surfaces that seems to require an aggressive responsive. We seem to be intent on maintaining balance and harmony — if at all possible. We find an extra dose of determination on Monday as we try to follow through on investigating intriguing clues. We are ready to clear away any blockages to effecting real change. On Tuesday, we will need to exercise caution and stay connected with friends and allies who can help us to bide our time and wait for the openings that are sure to come as we move through the rest of the week. There is an intellectual 'channel' opening up that encourages us to pull together our experience into a cohesive strategy for moving forward with new insight and determination. We can begin to uncover new information on Wednesday that allows us to develop an entirely new perspective and approach. We are offered extraordinary intuitive awareness — but complete clarity will still require a great deal of persistence and determination. Thursday's challenge is to set aside our defensiveness (inspired by a concern for our individual safety) in order to begin to see the importance of our universal connection. As we follow through on our investigations, objectivity is crucial. We are driven to rise to the level that those around us are asking of us — but we may also be led astray if our 'circle' is not asking of us our highest potential. Friday's optimism may be quite infectious but won't be the 'last word'. Temptations to 'rest on our laurels' or be otherwise led astray can be quite devastating. We are being asked to 'lay our cards on the table' on Saturday, offering whatever clarity that we can articulate, in the hope of making productive use of the powerfully insightful energy. It is especially important to set aside self-righteousness and any version of an attitude that 'might makes right', relying instead on recognizing our interconnectedness and seeking a reasonable consensus.
