Cancer Full Moon

Cancer Full Moon - Safety Imperative

"Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end."

—Seneca

We begin a New Year this week, followed up by the culmination of an intensely determined lunar cycle that was initiated at the December 19th Sagittarius New Moon (5:43 PM PST 28° Sagittarius). That culmination comes at the end of the week with a Cancer Full Moon (2:03 AM PST 13° Cancer/Capricorn). The Full Moon opposes not only the Sun but also Mars and Venus as they move toward a tight, triple conjunction (Sun, Mars, and Venus) which will be increasingly activated through the end of next week. As well, with the forming triple conjunction, a developing opposition from Jupiter in Cancer will keep increasing the pressure — and the strong desire to establish safety — well beyond the Full Moon, requiring extraordinary balance and self-discipline. The intensity of individual intention and personal self-expression is incredibly powerful but will need to be effectively channeled. In order to make the most of this week's environment, it is crucial that we look towards the future and let go of the past. In essence, it's time to 'move on' — or 'move forward' — without 'rehashing' the past. Mercury's squares to Saturn (on Monday) and Neptune (on Thursday) mark the closing of December's highly chaotic, confusing, and uncertain series of Sagittarius-Pisces squares. Ahead of Thursday's Mercury-Neptune square, Mercury activates the point of the last New Moon, putting our determination to follow through on our core intentions 'front and center'. However, a great deal of discrimination and careful consideration is called for. We may need to make last-minute revisions, ahead of Saturday's Full Moon. Following the square to Neptune, Mercury moves into Capricorn, helping to foster the self-discipline that is required in order to make use of the idealistic — perhaps even revolutionary — ideas and intentions that have been stirred up by the strong Sagittarius-Pisces interactions. Numerologically, the shift from 2025 (a "9" year) to 2026 (a "1" year) is especially significant. 2025 has represented the culmination of the processes initiated at the last "1" year — 2017. The numerolgical shift only emphasizes the dramatic shifts that are in store in the New Year. In essence, as we begin the New Year — numerologically a '1' year — we find ourselves 'ready to graduate to a new level'. In this atmosphere, as the fog begins to clear away, we may actually be a little too sure of ourselves as our uncertainty dissolves. Humility and methodical consideration are especially important as we survey the road — the year — ahead. Following up on the Saturday morning's Full Moon, a Moon-Jupiter conjunction and a Moon-Saturn trine helps us to balance the Cancer Moon's strong desire for safety with the ambition to explore and expand into the new environment that is laid out before us.

Optimism surges on Sunday but we need to be extremely careful not to go 'too far'. There are significant temptations to believe that we can 'ride a lucky streak' — a dangerous assumption. Monday's atmosphere is remarkably stable. Restrictions, challenges and obstacles suddenly seem to fall away — as though one side of a 'tug-of-war' suddenly lets go — and we may find ourselves struggling to 're-balance'. Tuesday offers a promising reminder that 'a better future is just around the corner' if we simply stay true to ourselves and our highest intentions. Nonetheless, there may be a somewhat disorienting feeling that we have lost control. A great deal of discrimination and careful consideration is called for on Wednesday. We may find that we need to make last-minute revisions ahead of Saturday's Full Moon. The fog begins to clear away on Thursday but we may actually be a little too sure of ourselves. Humility and methodical consideration are especially important as we survey the road — the year — ahead. There are some surprising twists on Friday — potentially some 'unintended consequences' — that will demand a great deal of self-discipline. We need to stay balanced as we move into the unexplored territory of the New Year. There is a dramatic shift in energy on Saturday. The intensity of individual intention and personal self-expression is incredibly powerful but will need to effectively channeled.
