Aries New Moon
Aries New Moon — Healing Insights
"Physician, heal thyself""
— Luke 4:23
The Moon wanes in light for most of this week, ahead of Friday's Aries New Moon (4:51 AM PDT 27° Aries). That New Moon, in a tight conjunction with Chiron, offers extraordinary healing insights — but only if we are willing listen. And listening is not at all easy this week. Mercury joins the Aries stellium on Tuesday, bringing the number of planetary bodies in Aries to seven (Neptune, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Chiron, the Sun, and the Moon). Mars, ruling Aries, is certainly in the 'driver's seat' but there are no clear, easy directions offered to Mars that would suggest the effective leadership associated with Aries and Mars. Mars conjuncts Neptune at the beginning of the week. That conjunction is overwhelmingly profound — both intensely idealistic and intensely disillusioning. We are faced with the question of how we respond when our deepest ideals and beliefs seem to be savagely dashed. We carry the challenges of finding an effective response with us throughout the week. There are more endings than true beginnings this week. Mercury makes a sextile to Uranus from the last degree of Pisces to the last degree of Taurus, which only provides intuitive glimpses of the shifts that are coming with Friday's precipitous Aries New Moon. For the most part, this represents endings, rather than the pursuits of any of the initiatives that Mars — and the Aries stellium — are impulsively seeking. With Jupiter out of the spotlight, any reliance on 'luck' is likely to be exposed and the potential for frustrated violence is inescapable. But Mercury's arrival in Aries on Tuesday does certainly offer some much needed intellectual capacity that can help us to iron out some of the disillusion and cynicism pouring out of the Mars-Neptune conjunction. As Mars moves determinedly through the widening Neptune-Saturn 'gauntlet', there is an increasing recognition that letting go of our 'false beliefs' and 'mistaken hopes' is the only way to maintain any hope of stability. Both Mercury and Mars head toward a conjunction with Saturn, which will complete at the beginning next week while the Moon will be in Taurus. Both Mars and Mercury form sextiles to Pluto at the end of this week before joining Saturn. That activity carries forward the shifts and challenges that we have seen over the past few weeks under the extended Saturn-Pluto sextile. This is actually part of the important advancement of the ongoing structural shifts that go all the way back to the Saturn-Pluto conjunction of 2020. We are at the point in that restructuring process when we have important opportunities to make 'course corrections' through the expression of our individual perspectives. Both the greatest strength and biggest weakness of Aries is the determined independence that is seen in the sign. The strength of that independence offers powerful, pioneering leadership capability. However, 'leaders must listen to their followers' or risk isolation and the total loss of support. Mercury and Mars are offered the power of transformative insight from the sextile to Pluto. Once past the grounding limitations of Saturn and using the initiatory power of the Aries New Moon, Mars activates — and Mercury communicates — the 'pulse of change' that has been stirred over the last few weeks under the Saturn-Pluto sextile. Most importantly, the healing insights of Chiron should not be overlooked. We are being guided to learn from those insights. Chiron teaches us that we need to continue to interact with those around us, maintaining the independence of Aries — our individual integrity — while balancing the valuable input from others. Accomplishments are certainly available as we move into the new lunar cycle but only if we are able to maintain that delicate balance and listen to the message of Chiron, encouraging us to recognize the importance of our connections to others.
Sunday's 'wilderness' is actually leading us into an entirely new sense of reality that has been purged of some of our false beliefs and mistaken hopes. Perhaps the biggest challenge in the environment is allowing cynicism to distract us from our individual pursuit of 'truth'. Monday offers some hope of dispelling some of the cynicism in pursuit of new ideals, new hopes, and new directions. Distractions abound. Tuesday brings forward some much needed intellectual capacity, helping us to iron out some of the disillusion and cynicism of the past few days. Nonetheless, the intellectual assistance struggles to control the impulsive, yet frustrated, martian energy that is intensifying to extraordinary levels. There is an extraordinary level of healing insight available on Thursday if we are willing to listen for it. We are offered the power of transformative insight. The importance of recognizing the perspectives of others may be easy to miss on Friday in the excitement and intensity of the environment. The 'pot is stirred', bringing to the surface the deep, transformative demands of the overall atmosphere. Perhaps the most important element in Saturday's activity is the need to avoid becoming sidetracked. We also need to continue to interact with those around us, maintaining our individual integrity while balancing input from others.
