Two Against One

Okay, I've got to admit it.  Pluto over my natal Moon is kicking my ass.  There are just too many other things going on, though, for me to really blame it all on my own personal transits.  Good Grief!  There's the Jupiter-Saturn Opposition.  There's the Uranus-Saturn Opposition.  Just Pluto in Capricorn by itself is massively disruptive for everyone.  Over my Moon should give me some added, uh, perspective.

But actually, it's just kicking my ass.

The Jupiter - Saturn opposition is a cycle that occurs every 20 years and has connections to economic low spots - 1930, 1950, 1970 & 1990. Get the picture? Jupiter expands, explores and speculates.  Saturn contracts, controls, and seeks certainty.  Their interplay over the twenty year cycle seems like a pump or a piston in the economy that goes up and down (expands and contracts), creating the boom and bust cycles that capitalism seems to crave. So we should be nearing a 'bottom' in the economy this year under this opposition.

The last time Saturn and Uranus opposed was during the tumultuous mid 1960's.  In the context of this opposition, Saturn is the Sheriff and Uranus the outlaw.  Uranus craves freedom and seeks innovation while Saturn prefers order and the safety of the tried and true.

But there's so much going on this year, poor Saturn has really got it's hands full keeping all of the disruption, change and turmoil in check.  It's kind of funny to think of "Daddy" Saturn with his hands so full - I'm thinking this is really too much for him, particularly with Pluto in Capricorn, disrupting his "home" sign.  In other words, the normal action of Saturn in a Saturn - Jupiter opposition, which is to contract the economy, looks like it's being overwhelmed by so much turmoil.

It is really two against one. But ultimately, Saturn is always on the loosing side as it battles to maintain the status quo over change.  Inertia never lasts forever.  Change does.

Jupiter has a strong ally in Uranus bringing innovation and striking insights to bear in countering the Saturnian demands for a full accounting.  That seems to be what is holding off the banking and financial reform.

I was intending on mentioning that I expected a drop in the stock market.  But as I write this the Dow is already going down.  I still think that the stock market will see further losses this summer.  But ultimately, the drop under the retrograde Mercury seems likely to be temporary.  That crazy 1000 point drop seems to have been a Rx Mercury issue.

But it also looked to me like some kind of warning - "look what I can do!"  It was just one more indication that there isn't anything we can be sure of in this climate.

And frankly, it's all just kickin' my ass.
