The Void Of Course Moon

If the Moon is void of course, there may be apparent progress of some kind but once the Moon goes into the next sign, we will usually find that an issue needs to be re-examined or a project needs to be restarted. We are usually fine if we manage to stay on 'auto-pilot' but if we veer too far from whatever course we've previously charted, we're likely to have to retrace our steps.

Of course, life doesn't just stop when the Moon goes VOC (See Robert Wilkinson's comments below). Nonetheless, I have seen spinning wheels too often under a VOC Moon to disregard the implications.

Some things to do under a Void-Of-Course Moon:

  • Continue ongoing projects or make tentative plans.
  • Pay bills, clean, sort and organize.
  • Regular chores, recurring appointments or commitments.
  • Philosophize, relax and reflect.
  • Practice unconditional giving.

Some things to avoid under a Void-Of-Course Moon:

  • Don't make major course changes.
  • It isn't the best time to begin a trip or vacation — things often don't turn out as planned
  • Don't finalize or submit ongoing projects.
  • Try to avoid making firm plans or commitments.
  • Don't begin new projects — try to wait until the Moon heads into the next sign.
  • Avoid signing important documents such as closing on a house or buying a car.

From the wonderful Robert Wilkinson who writes on Aquarius Papers:

Supposedly a "Void of Course" Moon shows that nothing significant will happen concerning events during the time the Moon is VOC. That is a very limited and erroneous view of an astrological phenomenon. Life is infinite and ever-changing demonstrating its robustness through "the 10,000 things" that eternally come and go in the course of an eternal stream of interrelated events. Since all that arises are part of our magnetic field within the larger Unified Field of Consciousness, how could there ever be a time "when nothing significant happens?"

So regardless of the supposedly VOC New Moons at this time in history, we must search for the meaning of the configurations since they reveal the evolving Divine Patterns in the NOW. Remember that we have the power to act or react from our center of Higher Awareness, and are not victims of astrological patterns.

As an aside, besides the objections I raised in my articles on the Void of Course Moon, historically the VOC Moon was used ONLY in Horary Astrology before the latter part of the 20th century. That would seemingly limit the validity in applying it in the other branches of Astrology . . .

Hi. I might be signing a rental lease for a house I will live in during Moon Void of Course. I plan on it only being a short term place. I kind of like the idea of signing the lease during Moon Void of Course because I know I don't want to stay there long term anyway. Basically, I don't want to be bound or controlled by the lease, but a lease is required. So I like the idea of signing it during Moon Void of Course. I was wondering what you think about signing important documents during Moon Void of Course that you don't want to be bound by anyway. Thank you for your time.

    • Hi Elizabeth,

That's a really interesting question! There may be some distinction based on the sign in which the Moon is VOC. But, in general, I suspect that signing under a VOC Moon would most likely just result in some need to revisit the paperwork that you've signed - an 'i' not dotted or a 't' not crossed. To some extent it may have the same effect as a retrograde Mercury in that it sort of 'gives you an out' and leaves the door open to further adjustments down the road. I suppose my biggest concern would have to do with any legal issues that lead to a contract (signed under a VOC Moon) being nullified or deemed inapplicable in some way or another.

      Thanks for the question!

      Kevin
