Weekly Summary: JANUARY 4 - JANUARY 10

"For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning."

—T.S. Eliot

There are a swirl of sensitivities that surface this week while we try to adapt to a new environment. We struggle to understand and make use of the first signs of 'new growth' as we move forward into the New Year. The emphasis has shifted to the action-oriented Cardinal Sign energy. We are trying to push forward on new initiatives but can quickly find ourselves 'tugging on the shoots' when we don't see things happening fast enough. Tension builds, despite the waning Moon. The triple conjunction of Venus, Mars, and the Sun in Capricorn tightens and forms oppositions to the retrograding Jupiter in Cancer by the end of the week. The first challenges come through vulnerable egos attempting to advance a personal agenda that will bring about the sense of security that seems to be paramount. We may be inclined to try to use considerable 'personal power' — charm, manipulation, or even violent 'strong arm' tactics. The oppositions from Capricorn to Cancer keep us working to find some sense of safety, while Saturn and Neptune (in Pisces) continue to whisper, "Let Go". Ultimately, faith in 'the process' is the best route to avoid setbacks or creating unnecessary 'wreckage'. Self-discipline is important — both in order to maintain progress and also to avoid impatience. There is a delicate, albeit powerful, growing force at work this week that seems to know its way 'just fine' without any sort of manipulation or 'force'. The second challenge comes mid-week with an easy-going atmosphere that may help to ease the pressure but can also lure us towards tempting distractions and encourage us to forget the need for self-discipline. If we begin to sense that things are 'falling into place', it is important to guard against any sort of arrogance or self-righteousness. While most of the distractions aren't seriously threatening, the potential for 'losing the plot' can not be ignored. Saturn's influence continues to be extremely powerful this week and, in Pisces, is working to (slowly and deliberately) establish deeper connections to our individual sense of truth, demanding that we discard unworkable, idealistic beliefs that are actually prolonging the hemmed-in and rigid conditions that we are actively struggling against this week. Of course, it is may seem somewhat paradoxical to consider that Saturn might have a role to play in removing rigid restrictions. But what we are actually dealing with this week is a challenge to Jupiter's belief structures — the oppositions from Mars, Venus, the Sun. (And coming soon: next week's Mercury-Jupiter opposition to drive home the message.) As Jupiter retrogrades in Cancer, our instincts can encourage us to try hold on to the safety of the past — outmoded ideas and beliefs — rather than fully embracing the expanding horizons that are developing before us in this New Year.

Sunday's energy is quite challenging to direct effectively. We need to stay 'hyper-alert' in order to adapt to changing circumstances and recognize the long term impacts of irresponsible action. We may be a bit too focused on pleasing others on Monday, undercutting our overall confidence. There is a sense that a show of weakness will cause us to lose the approval that we're craving. Tuesday's humility smooths over most of the ego vulnerability. Self-discipline is important — both in order to maintain progress and also to avoid impatience. Wednesday's generally easy-going atmosphere can quickly lure us towards tempting distractions and encourage us to forget the need for self-discipline. Acknowledging any sensitivity will help to navigate any upcoming 'bumps in the road'. We face some some extreme feelings of vulnerability on Thursday that are difficult to ignore or escape. The more self-discipline and circumspection that we can manifest, the easier it will be to 'right the ship' going forward. There is a strong imperative to take action on Friday. We have opportunities to build cooperation and compromise if we can stay objective. Moderation and self-discipline are crucial on Saturday. We'll do better to spend more time listening than talking.

Sunday January 04, 2026

Today's energy is quite challenging to direct effectively. The effect of today's Leo Moon highlights the strong ego factors of the developing triple conjunction of the Sun, Mars, and Venus. We may be inclined to try to use considerable 'personal power' — charm, manipulation, or even violent 'strong arm' tactics — in order to advance a personal agenda. We need to stay 'hyper-alert' in order to adapt to changing circumstances and recognize the long term impacts of irresponsible action. Perhaps the biggest challenge is to find a dynamic balance between material and spiritual values as we attempt to manifest our deeper goals and intentions.

Monday January 05, 2026

The Leo Moon makes quincunxes to Venus (6:55 AM PST), the Sun (7:24 AM PST), and Mars (9::07 AM PST) this morning, stirring a great deal of concern over how others see us. There are powerful imperatives to take action in pursuit of our goals. However, we seem to be more inclined to begin something, rather than actually do the necessary 'follow-through'. We may be a bit too focused on pleasing others, undercutting our overall confidence. There is a sense that a show of weakness will cause us to lose the approval that we're craving. Adjustments are certainly required and too much focus on 'looking good' can cause us to avoid making the commitments that are necessary. Ultimately, faith in 'the process' is the best route to avoiding setbacks today. The Moon's early evening trine to Chiron offers relief from our concern over what others think of us.

Tuesday January 06, 2026

Humility smooths over most of the ego vulnerability with the Moon's arrival into Virgo this morning (8:56 AM PST). Venus reaches the Sun today, providing an extraordinarily appealing charm that is both disarming and quietly powerful. We find creative sensitivity coupled with a precise, methodical attention to detail. As we begin to sense that things are 'falling into place', it is important to guard against any sort of arrogance or self-righteousness. Self-discipline is important — both in order to maintain progress and also to avoid impatience. This is a delicate, albeit powerful, growing force that seems to know its way 'just fine' without any sort of manipulation or 'force'.

Wednesday January 07, 2026

Venus catches up to Mars today, with the Sun closely involved in the 'mix' and aided by this afternoon's trine from the Moon. Today's generally easy-going atmosphere can easily lure us towards tempting distractions and encourage us to forget the need for self-discipline. While most of today's distractions aren't seriously threatening, the potential for 'losing the plot' should not be ignored. We may not recognize that we have drifted off course until tomorrow, when the challenges can become more serious. As the triple conjunction of the Sun, Venus, and Mars approach the opposition to Jupiter and follow-up square to Chiron, the emotional danger of chasing rainbows' into disappointment, is becoming more significant. Acknowledging any sensitivity now will help to navigate any upcoming 'bumps in the road'.

Thursday January 08, 2026

The Moon's oppositions to Saturn and Neptune today produces some extreme feelings of vulnerability that are difficult to ignore or escape. The main challenges seem to arise out of a need to adhere to rigorous and exacting standards. Independence can quickly become defiant or belligerent when challenged or constrained. Once the Moon arrives in Libra this afternoon (4:05 PM PST) and makes a trine to Pluto, we have some hope of gaining objectivity and a more cooperative attitude. Nonetheless, today's restrictions are likely to provoke some kind of chaotic crisis that won't easily be stabilized. The more self-discipline and circumspection that we can manifest, the easier it will be to 'right the ship' going forward.

Friday January 09, 2026

An early morning Sun-Mars conjunction (completing the extended triple conjunction of the Sun, Venus, and Mars) produces a strong imperative to take action. However, there isn't a great deal of certainty in this atmosphere and we may simply thrash about demonstratively, rather than find a productive course of action. Intuition may be quite helpful when logic doesn't seem to offer any clear choices. As well, we have opportunities to build cooperation and compromise if we can stay objective. A desire for approval can actually work in our favor here — a 'fake it till you make it' approach offers surprising rewards.

Saturday January 10, 2026

Moderation and self-discipline are imperative today, under the Sun-Jupiter and Mars-Jupiter oppositions. This morning's squares from the Moon to Jupiter, Venus, Mars, and the Sun stir up a great deal of anxiety. The Moon goes VOC following the square to Venus this morning at 9:53 AM PST after which, attempts to settle the atmosphere begin to seem hopeless. Despite the lack of traction, we'll do better to keep the conversation open-ended and congenial. Tomorrow's Scorpio Moon will at least help to resurrect our determination and decisiveness enough to find some breakthroughs if we don't create too much 'wreckage' today. Probably the best way to do that is to spend more time listening than talking.

Today is Monday January 12, 2026

Weekly Summary: JANUARY 11 - JANUARY 17

"The redwood is one of the few conifers that sprout from the stump and roots, and it declares itself willing to begin immediately to repair the damage of the lumberman and also that of the forest-burner."
— John Muir

This week's challenges and messages are encouraging us to learn to honor the restrictions and constraints of Saturn's 'structure' while recognizing the need to push against the boundaries of those structures in order to facilitate new growth — which is essentially the challenge of any sprouting seed as it seeks to break the bounds of the 'Earth' and 'reach towards the light'. The waning triple conjunction of the Sun, Venus, and Mars all make squares from Capricorn to the now direct Chiron in Aries at the beginning of the week. Mercury joins the parade by Thursday and the waning Moon caps off the Capricorn-Aries connection to Chiron right before next Sunday's Capricorn New Moon (11:51 AM PST 28° Capricorn). As Saturn, ruling Capricorn, winds up its trip through Pisces, we can feel that the boundaries and structures of Saturn have been softened — dissolved in the mystical, watery realm of Pisces. Saturn's structured lines have been blurred — the rules don't seem clear. The weakened structures give us a nearly infinite number of opportunities to break through into the new world offered in this New Year. In this week's context, Chiron is providing us with an opportunity to explore a vast wilderness of possibilities as we navigate the various crisis-driven challenges of this active, intense series of cardinal squares from Capricorn to Aries. Next week's New Moon approaches the Capricorn/Aquarius cusp, pointing to an inevitable restructuring — the growth process that brings about the New Structures created in Aquarius. Jupiter's connection to these crisis-driven challenges is still potent as it continues to retrograde in Cancer — personal safety and security remains an important element. However, Chiron's determination to teach us how to become more fully who we really are is in the 'driver's seat' this week. The healing power of Chiron is rooted in honesty and authenticity that seeks to teach us how to find the truth inside of us — our individuality and our connection to each other. Old wounds are certain to surface — crucial to the healing process. Saturn and Neptune, still in Pisces, continue to whisper "Let Go" even as the intensity and activity — the 'stakes' — raise higher and higher. Not every new initiative — not every sprout — will reach full maturity. This is only the beginning of the process. But this week's message from Chiron to "Be yourself, no matter the cost" offers us the best route possible to success through honesty and the recognition of our connectedness to all things.

Inner strength is increasingly apparent on Sunday — or at least offered to us through a spiritual perspective. The message is to learn to honor the restrictions and constraints of 'structure' while recognizing the need to push against those boundaries in order to facilitate new growth. Restrictions feel especially challenging on Monday but there are opportunities to expand our perspective. Although impatience and lingering issues of self-worth may surface on Tuesday, the opportunities for facing and clearing these unhelpful, old beliefs are extraordinary. The active, growing energies are everywhere but we need to allow them to develop in their own time. Tensions begin to ease on Wednesday. We're more inclined to 'stay with the program' and set aside the imperatives to break free of restrictions. Despite some unsteady feelings, Thursday offers a generous, beneficial environment. Some intense — but brief — uncertainty or instability may surface in the evening. There may be an anticipation of some kind of reward on Friday — which may or not materialize. The need to 'Let Go' is met with some brief but intense uncertainty on Saturday. A sharp burst of pressure produces a new round of sensitivity and vulnerability.

Sunday January 11, 2026

Inner strength is increasingly apparent today — or at least offered to us through a spiritual perspective. The Moon arrives in Scorpio at 2:55 AM PST and squares Pluto by 9:02 AM PST, increasing the intensity of today's Venus-Chiron square. Now that Chiron has returned to direct motion, the fearless, healing spirit of Chiron in Aires helps us understand that letting go — 'surrender' — offers a myriad of new opportunities and possibilities. Which is not to say that we must face 'defeat' here — only surrender. The squares from Capricorn of Venus, the Sun (tomorrow), and Mars (Tuesday) to Chiron in Aries can help us to prepare for the return of Saturn into Aries. The message is to learn to honor the restrictions and constraints of 'structure' while recognizing the need to push against those boundaries in order to facilitate new growth.

Monday January 12, 2026

Today's Scorpio Moon helps to ease the discomfort and low self-confidence that may be felt under today's Sun-Chiron square. Restrictions feel especially challenging but the Moon's sextile to Mercury and trine to Jupiter provide us with opportunities to expand our perspective enough to at least see the value of following through with 'established procedures', rather than trying to just 'jump the fence' and move ahead. 'Trusting the process' is especially powerful today, providing us with some degree of relief from the sense that 'we're on our own' or 'we can only trust ourself'. For the most part, whatever obstacles and restrictions we feel today are highlighting inner self-doubts that will easily fall away when we are able to 'Let Go'.

Tuesday January 13, 2026

Mars completes the '1-2-3 punches' of squares to Chiron today (Venus, the Sun, and now Mars). Following up on last week's oppositions to Jupiter, this is helping us to find an active route to the sense of 'Safety' that Jupiter in Cancer is seeking. In essence, we are offered the chance to 'take action' that will move us closer to achieving our broader goals and aspirations by clearing away the internal obstacles of self-doubt and uncertainty. Although impatience and lingering issues of self-worth may surface, the opportunities for facing and clearing these unhelpful, old beliefs are extraordinary here. The active, growing energies are everywhere but we need to allow them to develop in their own time.

Wednesday January 14, 2026

Tensions finally begin to wane today, following Mercury's early morning opposition to Jupiter. Venus heads towards a sextile to Saturn, providing extraordinary encouragement to face any challenging new information that surfaces today. We're more inclined to 'stay with the program' today, and set aside the imperatives to break free of restrictions that have been stirring us up this week. Creativity is quiet and unassuming — as opposed to bold and brash. Nonetheless, there is still plenty of activating energy in this environment. Vesta arrived in Aquarius at the beginning of this week and is slowly developing an alliance with Pluto that will complete on Saturday. Essentially, the Vesta-Pluto conjunction is providing solid proof that 'Change Has Come' and it is our individual awareness that must now recognize and deal with that change.

Thursday January 15, 2026

Mercury squares Chiron today, following up on the squares to Chiron from Venus, the Sun, and Mars. The challenge here is mainly to clearly articulate our perspective on the dramatic changes that are unfolding all around us — and within us. It is the belief structures of Jupiter that are finally transforming, which is helping us to recognize new perspectives on how to achieve safety. Despite some unsteady feelings, today offers a generous, beneficial environment. The Sagittarius Moon connects to Jupiter with a 'mutual reception' and a Venus-Uranus trine encourages us to express a Free Spirit that offers cooperation and connection. This evening's Moon-Saturn square and an overnight square to Neptune may resurrect some intense — but brief — uncertainty or instability.

Friday January 16, 2026

The arrival of the Moon in Capricorn, early this morning, begins to stir whispers of new shifts and initiatives ahead of Sunday morning's Capricorn New Moon (11:51 AM PST 28° Capricorn). The New Moon approaches the Capricorn/Aquarius cusp, pointing to an inevitable restructuring — the growth process that brings about the New Structures created in Aquarius. For the most part, this signals the end of what we have outgrown, making way for the new. There may be an anticipation of some kind of reward today — which may or not materialize in the New Lunar Cycle. However, today represents a point of quiet reflection, ahead of the new beginning. This is an especially fertile period, giving powerful opportunities to set clear and productive intentions.

Saturday January 17, 2026

There is considerable activity today, including a Venus-Neptune trine and a Sun-Uranus trine — both offering remarkably optimistic and beneficial developments. But perhaps the most important aspect of the day is the Moon-Jupiter opposition at 5:13 PM PST this afternoon, which suggest echoes of last week's sensitivities and vulnerabilities along with a burst of pressure. That pressure is capped off by Mercury's conjunction with Mars, later in the evening. It is most likely that 'the past' is making some kind of a 'last stand' today, ahead of the new initiatives coming with tomorrow's Capricorn New Moon (11:51 AM PST 28° Capricorn). The need to 'Let Go' is met with some brief but intense uncertainty.

Weekly Summary: JANUARY 18 - JANUARY 24

"To understand just one life you have to swallow the world ... do you wonder, then, that I was a heavy child?"
— Salman Rushdie, Midnight's Children

The week begins with Sunday's Capricorn New Moon (11:51 AM PST 28° Capricorn) in a nearly exact trine to Uranus, which offers the profound potential for the recognition of the 'connectedness of all things'. With Uranus so tightly involved, surprising shifts are likely but, from earth signs Capricorn to Taurus, the changes that are implemented should be fairly well grounded — even if they happen quicker than we are comfortable with! There is deep insight available in this new lunar cycle that can help us to bridge the gap (the cusp) between Capricorn's 'Established Structures' and the demand for 'Restructuring' that is activated in Aquarius. There is immense responsibility inherent in the new lunar cycle which, at times, may feel quite burdensome. However, ambition and excitement serve to counter-balance the heavy responsibilities that will be felt as we move through the next two weeks. Before leaving Capricorn for Aquarius, Mars also completes a trine to Uranus on Monday evening. That trine coincides almost exactly with a Saturn-Uranus sextile. Saturn's traditional rulership of Aquarius merges with the 'esoteric' rulership of Aquarius by Uranus — a profound symbol of the 'synchronous blending' of the old and the new that is at work. Mars activates this connection through the sextile to Saturn and trine to Uranus, offering energetic, determined action and a deep, intuitive sense of responsibility. The Sun, Mercury, and Mars all leave Capricorn and arrive in Aquarius this week, joining Venus. Venus is the first to complete a powerful conjunction to Pluto on Monday, beginning an extended series of connections and sparking intense passions. Mercury makes the next connection to Pluto on Thursday, sharpening our intellectual acuity. The Sun follows up on Friday — the same day that Mars arrives in Aquarius — putting our individual will-power and self-determination on full display. With the repeated activation of Pluto, we can see clear signs of transformation — either through breakthroughs or breakdowns. Once Mars arrives in Aquarius on Friday, the message of 'Lead, follow, or get out of the way!' is inescapable. The dramatic — potentially explosive — Mars-Pluto conjunction will complete next week, ahead of the Leo Full Moon on February 1 (2:08 PM PST 13° Leo/Aquarius). We may find a bit of a respite at the end of the week, allowing us to perhaps catch our breath a bit. Nonetheless, by the end of this week, there is no doubt that 'there's no going back''the die is cast'. The birth process is underway.

There is immense responsibility inherent in Sunday's New Moon which may, at times, feel quite burdensome. However, ambition and excitement serve to counter-balance the heavy responsibilities that are found. Freedom is crucial in Monday's atmosphere which is highlighting the need to consider the rights of others to be as important as our own. Passions are heightened with some potential for martyrdom, carried over from Sunday. The push to move towards the future is intense on Tuesday. Much of the push is developmental — we find ourselves in a highly activated 'planning phase'. We find ourselves in a surprisingly conservative, security oriented environment on Wednesday. We may feel a drop in self-confidence or suddenly become concerned that things are 'moving too fast'. There is a return of confidence on Thursday that may lead to some unexpected developments — quick responses are required. Nonetheless, this is a broadly unifying environment that pulls together a variety of perspectives into something that seems to be entirely new. We find an almost surreal environment on Friday with a flurry of dramatic shifts. The sense of freedom feels completely unrestrained — for better or worse. Saturday's slow down is less about laziness and more about needing time to 'catch our breath'. Whether through rest or reflection, we find the space to 'take stock' of where we are, how far we've come, and how to proceed in order to effectively continue our advance towards the future.

Sunday January 18, 2026

Today's Capricorn New Moon (11:51 AM PST 28° Capricorn) offers the profound potential for the recognition of the 'connectedness of all things'. There is deep insight available to help us bridge the gap (the cusp) between Capricorn's 'Established Structures' and the demand for 'Restructuring' in Aquarius. There is immense responsibility inherent in navigating this process which may, at times, feel quite burdensome. However, ambition and excitement serve to counter-balance the heavy responsibilities that are found here. There are an extraordinary number of 'activations' involved in this New Moon, beginning with the trine to Uranus — emphasized by the Mars-Mercury conjunction that is also forming a trine to Uranus. In essence, this at least suggests the possibility of a remarkably smooth transition 'from the old to the new' — but no guarantees!. The forming Venus-Pluto conjunction today brings forward extraordinary passions and the potential for martyrdom in pursuit of of a cause. Ultimately, the ease of this transition — from the old to the new — must be navigated on an individual basis even as we are offered a vision of the truth of connectedness.

Monday January 19, 2026

The Moon arrived in Aquarius yesterday, shortly after the Capricorn New Moon (11:51 AM PST 28° Capricorn). The Sun arrives in Aquarius today, emphasizing the remarkable, innovative potential of this atmosphere. Freedom is crucial in today's atmosphere which is highlighting the need to consider the rights of others to be as important as our own. Mars completes a trine to Uranus, coinciding almost exactly with the sextiles to Saturn of both Mars and Uranus. Saturn's traditional rulership of Aquarius merges with the 'esoteric' rulership of Aquarius by Uranus — a profound symbol of the 'synchronous blending' of the old and the new. Mars activates this connection with determined action and a deep, intuitive sense of responsibility. There are, nonetheless, significant challenges to cooperation seen in the waning — but still highly passionate — Venus-Pluto conjunction.

Tuesday January 20, 2026

The arrival of Mercury into Aquarius this morning pushes us forward 'towards the future'"out with the old, in with the new". Mars crosses the point of Sunday's Capricorn New Moon (11:51 AM PST 28° Capricorn), activating the determined push into this 'Brave New World'. Of course, much of the 'push' is developmental — we're in a highly activated 'planning phase', despite the reality that there's really no going back. Both the Sun and Mercury will cross the transformative Plutonian threshold before the end of the week. Mars will reach Aquarius by Friday when the message of 'Lead, follow, or get out of the way!' will be inescapable. The Moon's tense square to Uranus early this evening (6:16 PM PST) is likely to foreshadow some of this attitude. The Moon is VOC for most of the evening, following the square to Uranus and arrives in Pisces at 10:49 PM PST this evening — providing a soothing capacity to 'Let Go'.

Wednesday January 21, 2026

Mercury reaches the 'superior conjunction' with the Sun today in a surprisingly conservative, security oriented environment. We may feel a drop in self-confidence or suddenly become concerned that things are 'moving too fast'. Today's Venus-Vesta conjunction increases our sense of the costs and sacrifices involved in the 'restructuring' that is underway. However, this 'march of progress' is not likely to slow down. Once past the Sun, Mercury heads towards Pluto and will quickly regain the intellectual confidence that suddenly seems a bit 'soft' today. By Friday, we will have little doubt that 'the die is cast' and recognize that today's uncertainty is actually less complicated than we think.

Thursday January 22, 2026

Mercury conjuncts Pluto today while Mars heads toward a sextile to Neptune that completes at 10:39 PM PST this evening. There is a return of confidence that may lead to some unexpected developments — quick responses are required. Nonetheless, this is a broadly unifying environment that pulls together a variety of perspectives into something that seems to be entirely new. The early morning Moon-Jupiter trine keeps the mood generous as the Moon heads towards a last conjunction with Neptune in Pisces (for about 165 years!) which will occur early tomorrow morning. Despite any surprises, today offers a great deal of creativity, intuitive insight, and sharp mental acuity.

Friday January 23, 2026

The arrival of Mars into Aquarius this morning produces an almost surreal environment of dramatic shifts. The sense of freedom feels completely unrestrained — for better or worse. Today's Aries Moon only seems to encourage the energetic determination to move forward. The Moon makes sextiles to Mars, the Sun-Pluto conjunction, as well as Mercury and Venus. The recognition of so many opportunities can certainly produce a headlong, fearless rush towards an uncertain future. However, the ongoing Saturn-Uranus connection, ruling the whirlwind of Aquarian momentum, provides ongoing support to recognize the need for 'New Foundations' to be laid before 'New Structures' can be erected. Much will be gained today with perseverance and steady effort — assuming we can keep our 'wits'.

Saturday January 24, 2026

Today's slow down is less about laziness and more about needing time to 'catch our breath'. The growing process that has been unleashed by last Sunday's Capricorn New Moon (11:51 AM PST 28° Capricorn) finds enough 'light' (as we head toward tomorrow's first quarter lunar phase) for us to recognize the shifts that are underway. We are provided — or at least offered — an opportunity to absorb, on a deeply emotional, intuitive level, what is coming into form. With the repeated activation of Pluto, we can see clear signs of transformation — either through breakthroughs or breakdowns. Whether through rest or reflection, today give us the space to 'take stock' of where we are, how far we've come, and how to proceed in order to effectively continue our advance towards the future.
