Planets & Asteroids - Relationships in Conjunction

by Esther V. Leinbach

The following is an excerpt from Planets & Asteroids - Relationships in Conjunction

MOON ASPECTS

Moon conjunct Mercury
This conjunction in a man's chart causes him to look for a female companion with whom he can communicate. Chances are he has had this kind of relationship with his mother and because of that may find it is difficult to find someone else who measures up to her. Even in a woman's chart this conjunction will enhance her ability to communicate with other women and probably she also had a close relationship on a mental level with her mother. The conjunction will tend to keep the individual closely related to home longer than most other people. The mind and the feelings are well harmonized and given expression. Barring heavy afflictions the individual will be protective of the home environment and transfer this attitude toward a home of his own later. These people are always slow in leaving their own home to establish a home of their own.

Moon conjunct Venus
In an otherwise strong chart this conjunction will provide a sympathetic softening quality. It particularly enhances relationships with women. In women's charts it is more likely to contribute to difficulties through trusting too much and a desire for dependency rather than initiative and self-expression. In men's charts it is more likely to balance out his personality. In either case it will indicate a love of a luxurious and comfortable home. Often it indicates a close relationship with the mother, possibly overprotection. It enhances musical and artistic ability. Much depends on the strength and location of the conjunction in the chart. It will produce sensitivity along with a need for affection as well as the ability to be affectionate, except when located in Capricorn where these qualities may stay buried because of fear of rejection. In Libra it would contribute to a "Pollyanna" philosophy. In Taurus the feelings would be highly sensitized as well as a love of luxury.

Moon conjunct Mars
This conjunction in one chart contributes to the expression of violent emotions. Much depends on which planet is stronger in the sign which it occurs. For example Mars in Aries has the upper hand; although his actions may be based on his emotional feelings the Moon is weaker here. In Cancer the feelings have full sway and the Mars energy is enlisted to further an emotional cause. Generally speaking this is not the best way for these two bodies to be expressed. It is usually debilitating to the health, weakening the system through emotional energy. These two in conjunction almost always manage to distort the true picture one way or another. If this conjunction is not too dominant in the chart and there is a strong Mercury-Saturn to balance out it may be manageable. Most of the distortion originates with the behavior of the parents and the way the individual was raised. One way or another it will contribute to difficulties in getting along with women. More insight may be obtained by checking the degrees on which the conjunction is located.

Moon conjunct Jupiter
Conjunct in the same chart causes a tendency to be excessive. It contributes to overweight and in some cases will be excessive in the other direction and contribute to underweight depending on which way the rest of the chart is oriented. Whatever it does it does to excess. It is particularly generous with women. Often it indicates indulgence on the part of the mother. Women will play a major and usually rewarding role in the life. Depending on the sign in which the conjunction is located it contributes to sensitive feelings and emotional expression of both sorrow and pleasure. Usually it contributes to continuing parental support of one kind or another. It also stimulates rather traditional religious beliefs. The individual usually accepts and sometimes furthers the philosophical and religious views taught to him during childhood. It will contribute to artistic and poetical talents that the rest of the chart may foster. It injects a feeling quality into whatever he does.

Moon conjunct Saturn
These two are not happy with each other. Saturn restricts the expression of the feelings. It always indicates a lack of affection from the mother. It is possible that the parents were too wrapped up in themselves to give this individual the attention he needed. In some cases the individual may have lost his mother early in life. I consider it to be more difficult in male charts than in female charts. In either case the difficulty comes from an inability to relate warmly to other people. The native is hardworking and self-sufficient, preferring to be independent from any obligation to others. He is conservative, practical, concerned with material gain and tangible compensation. He desperately needs affection but does not feel safe under obligation or at the mercy of anyone else. Other factors in the chart may soften this influence to some extent. When found in a child's chart much can be done consciously to support the emotional needs if there are concerned adults to provide understanding.

Moon conjunct Uranus
The most prominent characteristic found here is unorthodox patterns of feeling and behavior, backed by a stubborn self-will. There is much desire for novelty and variety particularly in the home life. Much restlessness and inability to follow any routine plan or pattern will be obvious. There may be considerable amounts of creativity and resourcefulness which seems to surface suddenly. The native has an original imagination which may or may not be pertinent. He displays an erratic and unpredictable emotional pattern. Usually he is quite likeable even when obstinate. He enjoys people and entertaining groups in the home. There is likely to be a social consciousness which associates him with politics or social action groups. He is not likely to become a politician himself. He is too independent and unwilling to conform to the popular will to be successful at winning elections. He is also likely to be subject to emotional tantrums, unless other influences concern him with what other people think. Then his tantrums will be privately expressed. His relationship with the mother is erratic, not productive of security. As a child the individual probably didn't know what to expect from time to time.

Moon conjunct Neptune
The feelings are highly sensitized by this conjunction. The individual tends to be high strung and sentimental as well as intuitive. Premonitions are as likely to be unrealistic fears as well as reliable hunches. It is usually difficult for the individual to separate the real from the false without much effort and attention. They are inclined to rely on their intuitions and be misled into unreliable behavior. It seems to subjectthe individual more to possession and mental aberrations rather than provide reliable intuition. It also contributes to religious preoccupation with all forms of occult phenomena. There may be instead a devotion to some form of organized religion. The individual's ideas about God play an important role in what he does. Much depends on his concept of God which may be very beneficial or very destructive to both himself and others. It contributes to difficulties in marriage for both men and women. Much of the trouble begins with a foggy understanding of the mother's role when the individual was a child.

Moon conjunct Pluto
The mother will be an extremely powerful influence in the life of this individual. Particularly if the conjunction occurs in Cancer where Pluto spent 25 years, from the summer of 1913 until the summer of 1938. The mother image was undergoing dramatic upheaval during these years and was continued by individuals born during this time. Those with the Moon conjunct Pluto during these years were most affected by Pluto's transit. The whole chain of events continues through those children born with Moon conjunct Pluto in the following signs. It undoubtedly has much to do with women's bid for freedom and recognition. The drives to be expressed here may take a variety of forms. There is undoubtedly a curiosity fed by a generous psychic or intuitive ability to sense out just what is going on around them. It also may make them vulnerable to nightmares, astral attacks, hallucinations, visions and a fear of black magic. There is much sensitivity along with powerful control of the emotions as well as violent outbursts of temper usually calculated to suit their purpose. The domestic scene is always a major part of their lives whether congenial or hostile in expression. At least one major and unexpected upheaval will dominate the scene, perhaps on several occasions. A break with the mother and later on breaks with the children may occur with dramatic suddenness or prolonged turmoil. The conjunction is productive of much insight and may be as positive and creative in expression as it may be negative and destructive. It may on the other hand bring much upheaval without the available insight. Much depends on the overall ability of the individual as to how he will make use of this emotional powerhouse. The degrees on which the conjunction occurs will also give hints as to the channel through which it will manifest.

Moon conjunct Chiron
Your basic desire is to be different. You feel uncomfortable as one of the crowd or gang. You probably have an unusually good relationship to your mother who perhaps also fostered your desire to be an individual. You rather enjoy being in a wilderness of ideas. Your ability to concentrate is enhanced which aids you in being able to develop accomplishments which others may not have dreamed of. You also have an ability to dramatize what you wish to communicate in such a way as to attract attention which also separates you from the croud. There is not much desire to expect much attention or credit for what is done it is enough that something interesting has been accomplished.
o say no and indulge yourself.

Moon conjunct Ceres
These two are very similar; they are both associated with Cancer. If the conjunction occurs in Cancer it will relieve some of the moodiness by activating the desire to nourish and take care of everything in the environment from plants and animals to people. It gives a practical expression to domestic areas of expression. This conjunction complements the Moon by giving form to the intangible feelings of the Moon. The conjunction seems to work very well together. The frustration of the Moon is organized and put to work in practical ways to sustain both the individual and his environment. Strangely enough there also seems to be a polarity generated here which keeps the expression from being excessively feminine. Men benefit as much or more from this conjunction as do women. It seems to provide the bi-polar quality necessary to make the Moon truly creative in a nourishing and life-sustaining way.

Moon conjunct Pallas
This conjunction in one chart will either clarify or seriously confuse the feelings, depending on how the individual is able to handle the expanded awareness. In some cases it will contribute to an intuitive psychic awareness which may prove to be invaluable. In other cases the individual may be overly sensitized by feelings that he is unable to sort out to deal meaningfully with. This conjunction is not as over-whelming as the Moon-Neptune conjunction is capable of being. Pallas always adds a note of optimism rather than the fear Neptune is capable of stirring up. Pallas conjunct the Moon would contribute to a "Pollyanna" approach to life. Even so there is an awareness which saves the individual from being totally unaware of anything negative. Rather the Moon conjunct Pallas will try to see the value in all feelings instead of ignoring destructive and negative states of mind. It will originate in the relationship with the mother which may be expected to be understanding and helpful as the mother was capable of being. This conjunction will have a very positive effect on the native's emotional makeup.

Moon conjunct Juno
This conjunction in one chart contributes to the necessity for equality in all relationships. Emotional avenues will be used to establish these rights. The individual will use all kinds of subtleties and forms of manipulation to obtain what they want and to get even when they feel they have been wronged. There is an emotional drive to even the score usually in an undercover way. These people become masters at feminine wiles and they may not all be women. Men may adopt these tactics also which have been credited to women. Temper tantrums and pleading for sympathy may be enlisted to build their defense. There is an emotional Mars quality to this combination. It falls short of reason or logic except in the exactness with which they seek to balance the scales. Their scales may be a little off but that is of no concern. In a very well balanced chart this conjunction will not go to such extremes. It would be well however that even when the individual is behaving in a very responsible manner they expect to be treated fairly. They should be given the credit they have earned without their having to resort to distorted patterns to claim that credit. It is well to keep a clear understanding of where you stand with this individual. If you have this conjunction in your chart it is well to remember that sometimes a bad debt is not worth going after.

Moon conjunct Vesta
This conjunction grants a strong sense of responsibility and control of the emotions. There is strong sensitivity but also a willingness to make sacrifices where the individual considers it to be necessary. Much depends on his values. He is capable of being very cold and heartless if the rest of the chart is rigid. It would do much to balance out a chart that was too weak and dominated by sympathy. At best this conjunction will grant the ability to make hard choices, to say "no" where necessary. If this conjunction is strong enough to dominate the rest of the chart it will keep the Moon from being a "soft touch" for a "sob story" and yet be able to render real help when necessary. When strong in the chart it is dedicated to service of the kind that helps people to help themselves. It is also likely to demand absolute obedience to the plan it sees as necessary in an emergency. In a chart which is oriented towards a dictatorial nature it will increase the demand for absolute obedience in exchange for any help. It is strongest in Cancer or Scorpio. At its worst it could contribute to sexual perversion. At its best it could contribute to bi-polar creativity. If used creatively it will grant singleness of purpose which may be transferred from one job or situation to another in continual production. It may be used very constructively or very destructively.
